Should J & F be AO? (Kids we dont want you in Business class!)

Which doesn't contradict my statement that it's a plane, not a society.

I have no idea how you can claim a society on a plane is not a society. I'm simply trying to highlight that a physical location does not change the fact that it is still a society. Clearly that does contradict your statement.

I made no such claim. Read my statement again, but this time read it properly. Then we can get back to the topic of this thread.

"it's a plane not a society"

Read it again, it still says the same thing. There is no other way to read it.

Perhaps I should add that my intention was to contradict your original statement, just to be clear because there is a society of passengers on every flight. The physical thing (a plane) that contains that society does not change the fact that it is the interactions of that society that are important. And afterall this thread is about people's reactions to each other in that society on the plane.

Then read it again, read it however many times it takes you to see where you are wrong.

Umm. I'm not going to play some stupid game of trying to guess what you really mean. Your words are straightforward. Even your little rant about the suggestion of having to putting on NC headphones implies that you don't believe you need to take the societal approach to peacefully coexist when on a plane.

You wrote, you own it, the meaning is clear.

If only J and F had an ignore feature like the one that the AFF forum has it would be a much more civilised place. One little click and the whining 12 year old (or its adult equivalent) is silenced.

BBoy - if you think you are above society, then get the farnarkle off my plane please.

[P.S. Farnarkle is an inoffensive term used frequently (in the past) on ABC radio - so don't even think about redacting it Admin!]

Thing is, Smackbum, I don't think that at all - I just want a peaceful few hours away from whining brats (of any age) when I'm on a plane. If that's above society then the standards of that society are pretty low.

And I won't adjust my own behaviour, eg wear a headset, just because somebody else's sprog won't behave properly - they are the ones who need to adjust, not anyone else.

Living in any society is about compromising for the good if all. The fact is you have now clearly stated that your above society. Thus highlighting that you either think there is no society on a plane (as you stated) or that you are above and beyond the considerations that apply to everyone else on that plane.

Either way it seems to me that you're being unreasonable and are having a little tantrum about not getting your way, about everyone not agreeing with you. Everyone else has to adjust their behaviour but not you? Small child don't cry because you have a stabbing pain in your ears because I don't like it and I refuse to help myself by wearing NC headphones. That's a nice attitude to have.

Me thinks it is time for the 'children' to step back and take a deap breath.

+1. I think that tangent has reached its 'use by date'. We are a community that likes to discuss a topic, not go off on a tangent. You two can either continue that tangent by PM between each other, where it affects nobody; or allow it to firmly finish now.

Back to the topic please all, lest we consider closing the thread if it gets into the realm of personal attacks . I trust that makes our position clear

Well, to be firmly on topic. I think anyone (adult or child) who is not prepared to vary their behaviour so as to help maintain peaceful harmony in the F or J, or even the Y, cabin should be banned.

As they are often at either:

1. The port of embarkation (in the event that the flight hasn't taken off)
2. A diverted port of arrival (if considered serious enough to divert)
3. The normal port of arrival (if it happens mid-air and is controllable)

Generally, all kinds of security related personnel are awaiting the arrival and take the alleged offendee(s) from the flight to more suitable establishments for de-briefing .

A number of celebrities spring to mind. Number 3 and Peter Buck (of REM fame) - although it as a combination of alcohol and pills obtained from another person (not under prescription) that were unintentionally mis-used - he was lucky.

Thank you medhead ;)

As indicated in my recent post, medhead is now in my ignore list, so my part in this ridiculous exchange finished some time back.

Another reason why kids should not be allowed in J &F

Melbourne Magistrates Court yesterday heard that Yahya, 2 [2 edited], swore loudly at the supervisor while a passenger told his mother to shut him up because he was frightening people. Prosecutor Aman Dhillon told the court that Yahya repeatedly left his economy seat and sat next to his mother in business class after her requests for his upgrade were refused.:lol::lol:

Drunk passenger Khairulddin Mohammad Yahya 'behaved like terrorist'

Intersting one which I have never seen before. 2 kids 7 and almost 10 were escorted on board as UM and sat in J. After a while they began screaming MUM MUM and there mother appeared from whY
During the flight the kids constantly ran up and down the aircraft and when we were touching down they started screaming for their mum again and started (quite annoyingly as it is only one sentence) sing Lucky I'm with Amy (with variation Unlucky I'm with Amy)... Upon which the mother tried to shush them from the back... Needless to say I was quite happy to get off

SWMBO asked me to share our situation with you. Four of us including 2 kids currently sitting in the J lounge in Brisbane. Our children are absolutely silent. Sitting here entertaining themselves, reading and just sitting waiting patiently.

Next table over "there is an arrogant business man in his pinstriped suit, loudly sharing his phone conversation with the whole lounge". If you want peace and quiet, she says to ban the men in pinstriped suits.

Not sure about pinstriped suits - but please ban those tools that walk around with their bluetooth earpieces in having uproarious conversations with the gods.

I can't agree more with this!! It's like the people that as soon as the wheels touch the ground they whip their phones out!

Well I do this too (after the all-clear announcement), but it's discreet and just to SMS a pick-up person (or to check E/F for any "seat changes" on next onward flight ;)).

I would never make a call until inside the terminal though.
