Big changes at Qantas according to Travel Daily

"Qantas has ended the week with a bombshell, just now announcing a major shake-up of several managerial positions as part of its accelerated transformation program, which will see the departures of Lyell Strambi and Simon Hickey, and a revised allocation of roles in a new executive team." - Travel Daily
 
re-consolidating the previously un-consolidation of the single management structure? :)
 
For others like me who don't know who in the world they are/were, what in fact did('nt) they do at QF?

Interesting times ahead.....

I always find it interesting when a company puts a CFO in a CEO position, particularly when looking for brand growth and improving intangibles such as consumer loyalty, satisfaction, etc. Such a detailed focus on money often never changes..

I guess if the new management team can do the same work with three less people, this is ultimately a good thing for QF?
 
And they were telling us QF will be back in the black next financial year.
Leaner and meaner.
Could these 2 leaving be why QF will again be in profit?
 
Strange and some what unexpected, why wouldn't this be announced at the recent financial and performance announcement. It will be interesting to see what leaks come out of the next weeks/months.

I kind of liked the quote I heard on the radio coming home from a financial market analyst that this was more moving the deck chairs on the Titanic!

Loosing two senior execs in the high profile roles would suggest to me something is up. I am sure AJ has had the lawyers all of this to ensure they can justify why they don't need to make a further market statement.
 
I would like to offer my services for a modest fee to be the proof reader for QF correspondence unless "faced tough" is like a "shirtfront".

"This business has faced tough a tough market environment however has risen above the competition to emerge as a stronger and leaner business, with significant improvements to its customer service and cost base."

I noticed a recent submission to IASC for Canada was of a similar high standard even though it was only five short paragraphs

"Qantas plans operate seasonal services between Australia and Canada"

My bolding in both quotes - no wonder we have difficulty understanding their policies.
 
Losing the person who gave Qantas Frequent Flyer a huge push along is disappointing.
I still have serious doubts that AJ understands the Qantas product and getting rid of competitors for the top position may not help us as flyers.
Qantas international became quite irrelevant to us in Perth as they have nothing.
 
So much for succession planning ... Get rid of anyone who's a threat or possible early successor ...

I'd say "unbelievable" but unfortunately completely expected and unremarkable coming from Qantas these days. What an illiterate rabble.
 
Hickey won't be missed - he did very little, so much so he was seen as the 'invisible man' around the campus.

Strambi will be missed - a nice guy, very knowledgeable about all parts of the business. Very approachable guy - I didn't agree with his views on everything but he was passionate about decisions he was making, so he was easy to get along with.

It's extraordinary really but it isn't just Qantas staff, literacy is generally on the decline in Australia. Fortunately we AFF members are able to keep what limited skills we may still posses alive by posting regularly on the forum.
