As I understand it, 3K use A320s and MH use 738s.

I'm looking at flying MEL-KUL and our favourite Latin American TA offers MEL-SIN-KUL as the cheapest J option, with a $50 difference doing the final SIN-KUL sector on 3K (but QF flight number ticketed in B for full Y SCs) or on MH for $50 more. Ultimately it's $50 for an extra 40SC, and the connection times are similar.

Are there any disadvantages to doing MH - e.g. do they use the same terminal as QF/3K to allow usage of the QF Lounge at SIN? Also, what's the catering and hard product like on such a short MH J flight?

MH J would cough All over 3K.

Besides the 40 sc. The choice of any OW lounge before travel would be great. For a 40min flight not sure How much y time pi can actually eat.

It would be a No brainer

MH use terminal 2 so it's quite a hike from the T1 lounges.

The catering is a small meal like a vegetarian hot pie or similar. The hard product is good, similar seats to QF 737 business class but much more pitch. For $50 I would do MH simply for the SC's.

Its $50 for 30 more SC but less points, having said that if J is what your after take MH, but maybe not use our favorite TA, there are probably better options elsewhere.
