Would you guys go HK first or SIN? The flight from MEL - SIN is on A380, looking at the upper deck! And the rest of the flights are on 777 metal! Heard Bangkok is cheap as well! Definitely HK, but I give priority for SIN but Bangkok is lurking in the back of my mind as well! So many choices! But thanks guys for all your inputs so far!!

Really want to go and see house of dancing water in Macau! Any tips on traveling to Macau guys?

I think shopping in HK is better than SIN.

Depends on what you want. Be careful and know the details to determine the real value....assume nothing.

In Sin I've had the best prices at the airport.........really.

IMHO as I have been to both SIN and HKG a few times.

Very similar but IMO HKG is better value for money.

In HKG anything in Nathan Rd area will be handy for al shopping stuff.

Orchid Rd is the place to stay for all the tourist stuff in SIN but IMO not as good shopping.

For the time of year you are going I would pick BKK...love HKG but for me - its a warm weather destination.

The OP is from Mel, very used to the rigours of cooler climes. So mid feb would be in the middle of it I woud say.

It actually only gets cool in honkers for about two weeks a year commencing around CNY. Or it did when I lived there.

It was more the winds than anything else for memory.

I was in HKG in late dec and late jan, was cool but in mid jan I was in sapporo and tokyo, went back to HKG in late jan and HKG felt warm!

I haven't been to SIN for a while (I'm currently in HKG).

I would suggest 5 days in both places to be ample time.

I went to HKG in Feb 2011 and it was fine. Didn't think it was cold. At night we just put a light jacket on but was only really needed on the open bus ride we took and we also did a harbour cruise one night as well.

I was there in Feb 2012 and no jumper at all needed but it did rain and that cooled it down but still no jumper at all on that trip.
