Six million people a year would use train to Melbourne Airport

It seems the direct airport rail was first mentioned in 1999 as an election promise.So you still have a long way to go to catch up with QLD. It was 130 years from the first promise of a rail line until if finally opened.
And the next line they built they forgot staff were needed to run it

The MEL rail corridor was first reserved when the airport opened in 1970. So only 75 years to go! :D

But our Maroochydore line has been suggested since the 1970s and like the line to MEL was promised in the 1999 election campaign. But unlike MEL it was included in the 2022 Federal budget with 1.6 billion set aside. Unfortunately in 2023 minister king put the Sunsine Coast into the same basket as QR and cut the funding. I am confident I will never see it built.
