So... what car do you guys drive when not flying?

Except the last thing I will do is give some stranger my bank account details. I will be quite happy with a bank cheque and three days to clear it thanks!
A bank Cheque clears straight away. Why the 3 days? Personal Cheque 3 days.

I also take a copy of the Buyer’s Driver‘s License before any test drive and checked again at final settlement.

Used 2013 LC200Sahara diesel 110000km.
Redbook private sale $75000

Brand new 2020 LC200Sahara diesel
$120000

Instant asset writeoff $150000 assuming its legislated.

GST say $15000
$105000 immediate 100% depreciation at marginal tax rate

Effectively a cash neutral transaction swoping new for old.

I believe the industry is still waiting for clarification whether the full $150k can be claimed against a car, or whether the existing ~$57k limit remains.

So have narrowed down options for new car for parents after the buyback of their CRV by Honda. Just wondering if now right time to buy or wait another month to see what happens price wise. The Seltos they want is subject 3-4 month wait anyway but ASX and XV available now.

I have used carsale paid ads in the past. Just be mindful of the scammers: "I am buying the car for my daughter. Give me your bank details and I will send you the money and a friend will pick it up".

Actually, NAB told us there have been a number of counterfeit bank cheques which is why they have the clearance delay.

EFT is really the only way to pay quickly.
$20 notes are pretty good too 😎

I guess both parties need to make value judgements.
I sold a motorcycle for an agreed sum but when the cash was presented the (young) buyer attempted to lower the price.
The bike was still in the garage and the keys were in my pocket, so the rest of the cash was suddenly discovered in another pocket.
I recently bought a newish ride on mower, it was in Bundaberg and I am in Brisvegas.
The intermediary ( It wasn't his) spoke with a slow laconic qld country drawl and it would have been easy to assume something was dodgy.
I listened to him carefully , asked some thoughtful questions and made an offer.
He rang back with an acceptance , I paid by eft in advance and the mower was delivered personally a few days later precisely as described.

I deposited a bank cheque about a month ago. "3 days, same as any other cheque"
My experience has always been that bank Cheques clear immediately. I’m not disputing your experience was different. Has something changed recently or have bank Cheques always varied based on issuer and receiving bank? And why TF does IOS autocorrect cheques to ‘Chequers’!! grrrr
