So... what car do you guys drive when not flying?

disposed” of an old car
I mentioned to Mrs QS that when one of our cars die, it’s worth more in parts.

I said it would be easy enough to sell the parts rather than the car. The tailgate on the Chrysler Voyager people mover is worth about half of what the car can get as a trade in.

It did not go down well presumably as the car would be taken apart slowly and occupy an ever increasing garage space😂

Therein lies the issue - I didn’t want a progressively smaller and smaller amount of car clogging up my driveway, for (in the scheme of things) not a huge amount of money.

Life’s too short.

Now if you had a big property and could leave it somewhere out of the way and sell it bit by bit (eg. on ebay), that’s good but at some point you’ve also got to dispose of the “carcass” which also may end up costing money.....

Easier to sell to a wrecker and take the $500 now that get $1500 over 5 years then pay $250 to get the carcass hauled away....

Flash wheels.. new qld paddy wagon perhaps…. 2021 BMW M4 Safari Camper.. ( Its a render.. not real…)
Just goes to prove that if you polish a turd...it’s still a turd. Sorry, but BMW is the new Ssanyong of styling
Just VW marketing for a different steering rack with variable ratios
Actually the bit of marketing that annoys me here is the association of R-Line, with any real VW R model.

Of course Audi do it by trying to associate S-Line with their S models, and BMW will cover their cars in M badges, but they still won’t be M3 et al. I always thought that marketing were going to be the first against the wall....

Try one of these.

Try one of these.

Do you mean the “R” plate?

For a fleeting moment last year, I considered an Alfa. But the nearest dealer is 300 km away, and beyond that, for most of the year, I wouldn’t have actually been able to go there anyway (nor can I right now).

This is interesting.

If I did go electric, it would have to be one of these:

Just ordered a Honda CR-V VTiX. We decided we don't need 2 cars anymore so traded my Accord and her Civic for the CR-V

It's supposed to be a 2021 build and expected early Feb.

There's nothing like that new car smell :D

I’ve stayed away from the Skoda brand - I believe the resale value is lower than the comparables

Oh that doesn't affect me as its a company car (thankfully don't have to worry about that, this time). But good to know.

I've driven a few and they seem great, have a few friends that love them. I think the smaller one won car of the year in 2020....

Have two friends with Skodas and they are very happy with them. Good performance and value for money.

I saw a Skoda won some small suv of the year award recently.

Currently driving a Peugeot 308 as a loan car.

It’s got a 1.2L 3cyl turbo petrol. What a cracker of an engine for a small run around car. It is so torquey it feels a bit like a diesel - it does 1500rpm at 60km/h.
If you give it some throttle interestingly it doesn’t necessary change down - it just rides the torque more than any other petrol turbo I’ve driven in the last couple of years.

Well I am wondering whether I should take the plunge on a new Defender. It would be quite the step up from the Triton.

The six month delivery is a bit of a downer.
