So... what car do you guys drive when not flying?

How does the Y compare with the 3 re interior space?
Think of it as a hatchback-3 / SUV combo. slightly larger and taller. I love the 3 but with my back, I look like a spider crawling out from under a rock getting out of it.

It's funny, the last time @Quickstatus and I discussed EVs I was told there was a plague of them driving slowly on the highway because they were running out of charge

Pity it doesn’t come with commensurate increase in demerit points
.....or greenhouse gases - will be using Diamond Energy at home to recharge.
More interested in 500km+ range (and 0-100 in 3.7 seconds to win traffic light derby 😱. <\smarta##s comment off> )

I don't think my son's ever had his Tesla much over 110km/h except if overtaking. The quick acceleration for overtaking is a real bonus, spending least amount of time on wrong side of road.

Now, that is certainly something I'd like to try, overtaking looonnngg road trains in the Pilbara. :)

I've never seen a Tesla
1) maybe because a lot of T drivers are fixated on battery longevity and many are also into Wh/km

2) maybe they have 1 demerit point left🤣

Lol. I actually don’t remember the discussion. But it is a well known fact that EV can extend range (and therefore also range anxiety) by reducing speed.

Still not convinced of Tesla build quality and after sales service. Hyundai Ioniq 5 is a better EV + vehicle all round IMO

Obviously didn’t study physics or acquire common sense

Physics : Moment of inertia proportional to square of the radius🤣 (in this case radius = axle to rear of canopy)

Common sense: don’t overload your vehicle with sh** especially that far behind the axle🤣

Wow, Quicklstatus, you're quite the curmudgeon today, aren't you? Get out on the wrong side of bed, did we?

The Tesla forums are full of people with range, battery, build quality, repair and vehicle delivery anxiety

That's a pretty sustained "put down" on someone who was just sharing excitement about a first new car in 10 years.

Congratulations Coriander…enjoy
Iirc , there has been quite a bit of discussion about ev's already in this thread , including some fairly trenchant view on both"sides".
Ev's suit some folks, we may eventually cross over when our needs change.

No @coriander, it’s not putting you down - apologies if you interpreted it that way.

My comments reflect my own anxieties about Tesla.
If I ever got a Tesla/other EV I can see myself in similar situations re above - the demerit points included.

the price is changing a lot of buying habits.
Had a ride to the footy last night in a 10y old rangie (think it was an autobiography)..
Just over 100k & purring like a kitten ...the owner loves it to bits.
He ain't 'zactly broke but baulks at 300 odd $k to replace it… so it stays.
Mi_eg is a $100k+ replacement exercise.. no thanks..it is staying also.
