So... what car do you guys drive when not flying?

Why do people buy black cars?

They show every single bit of dirt, and turn into an oven in the sun.

I do notice that the new Range Rover is out. One of the options is a heated steering wheel. Who needs a heated steering wheel? I'm thinking a cooled steering wheel would be more use in Australia.

They do also have the option for heated (standard) AND cooled (option) seats. I'm wondering how that works. Some crazy AC ducting maybe?

This will be my third black car.

My car is very rarely packed in the sun as at work I have an undercover car park and our local shopping centre is all undercover to degrees.

Air con cools it down pretty quick anyway.

Yep i will get all the same questions a hundred more times over the next few weeks.

Black body with polished chrome trimmings around windows - looks very nice.

I have a silver car & the bloody things looks dirty all the time.

Heated steering wheels are great - our Cayenne Turbo has one (as standard) which automatically turns on when it's less than 4 degrees outside. A really nice touch especially if you're up at the snowfields after a long cold day or just jumping in and out of the car on a winter morning in Canberra.

Very keen to hear how you like that. I have a 7 year old model. Just can't justify getting rid of it.

My current model is a 2010 Kluger so just a body change and few extras.

The only reason behind the change was lease costs stay the same and newer car and it is nearly out of warranty and nearly out of the capped price servicing as well.

And the 5K govt tax thing.

I drove the highlander in NZ, thinking it was the same, but I like it ( the highlander ) better, it seems a bit wider and roomier.
I think it's made in the U.S.

It is I, Leclerc !

To my knowledge Highlander is just a name change for a different market. Maybe slight differences but nothing huge in my research about the new model. I currently have the KX-S AWD model 2010 which is the old shape.

2008 red Audi A3 with a sport pack kit or whatever it's called. Love my Audi! Had a black Toyota Corolla 2000 model for eight years before the Audi. I seem to always change over when my car hits 7 - 8 years old. My husband doesn't drive, he's legally blind, so we just have the one car and I'm the chauffeur for him :)

In 27 year of driving I've only owned five cars including the Audi. Husband wants to look at getting the new model coming out next year but I keep telling him we'll have to give up travelling internationally every year if we do that.

ETA: I love driving manual cars - I would never buy an auto. I'm a hoon at heart and love to take off fast from traffic lights.

Travelling is an education, cars are an expense!!!

I generally swap my cars over every 2 to 3 years and find that I have no real costs apart from lease and fuel costs with schedule servicing.

My current car has nearly 60k on it and got a good price for it.

I can not remember the last time I replaced a set of tyres.

I've never leased, just bought outright. So I try to drive them to the point where they are only just starting to have little things go wrong, which for me is 7 - 8 years. I only do about 10k km per year.

Ordered the Kluger Grande in Black and delivery is not going to be until maybe December or Jan.

The new car hunting has to start again.

Maybe a CX9 Grand Tourer or Pajero.

My experience was that it seemed a little bigger.
At least it felt that way when we drove it in NZ.

Thread resurection...

Pretty sure I'm about to drop some coin on something along the lines of this: 2012 FORD F250 LARIAT CREW CAB SWB MY12 Cars For Sale in VIC - carsales.com.au - carsales.com.au

It'll be the wifes car (don't ask, shes American... 'nuff said) and to be honest there are worse things to be rolling around in on the weekend :)

Also, when you compare the price to say a new 200 series, its a pretty compelling argument.

The lease is nearly up on my XC 90, does that behemoth seat 7 ? ;)

Unfortunately not, and trust me we looked at getting a Suburban in and converted... but because its not classed as a "commercial" vehicle and something to do with the actual fact it had 8 seats meant F250 + $50k + at least 6 mths to get it...

LOL

But you could park the XC90 in the tray if you want?
