So... what car do you guys drive when not flying?

Body paint is a very hi tech process these days.
The shops have to be clean in terms of emissions and the paint itself is expensive.
Someone in the family owns a shop , sadly I don't get any deals….

We had 2 of them. Lovely little cars with a surprising amount of room. Both were written off in accidents, no one badly hurt, and neither our fault.

The second, a 1.3L, was exactly like you said, turn on the A/C with 2 people in the car and you could feel it slow down. The first one was a 1.5L and a lot nippier and the A/C seemed to have no effect. Looking back now they seem very expensive and show how prices have dropped for small cars.
Mine was a 1.3 written off by a Wombat

Some facts about my 121 bubble

50-60kw engine (can’t remember exact)
No airbags
5 speed Manual
Amazingly it had power steering though the windows were all manual adjust
Because of the bubble shape the inside was like a Tardis

My Mazda 2 was written off by a Wombat, (of the distracted female type)...driving a much bigger car into mine head on. Still struggling to recover 12 months later, but that car most definitely saved my life.

Head on impacts involve a lot of energy dissipation - from both cars but the crumple zones of both cars dissipates a lot of that double energy. Side impact less energy - one car not both and only one front end crumple zone. Not a lot of crumple zone in the side of a car

The most lethal are the off-set impacts because the crumple zone of the offset vehicle does not work or less effective and allthe energy is directed into a small area.

Most head ons are a partial offset

Had the head gasket replaced in the RS Focus in March as part of the recall programme, they changed the oil and other bits and pieces at that time. It's only done 9,000 km in 2 years, got a letter from Ford saying it was due for it's 30,000 or 12 month service. Told them I didn't want the oil changed, they said they had to do it anyway.
I think it's a waste of resources and not to mention the cost, new filter was $28, 0W-40W synthetic oil was $132, environmental levee to dispose of old oil was $15, filter assembly oil was a further $15, all plus 10% gst.

Not happy Jan....... I always get a follow up email and I'll tell them of the issue I have with replacing the oil and filter which has probably done less 700km. I'm sure they will say that I and the dealer have to follow the service schedule otherwise the warranty will be void.

Who is to know if they even did change the oil.

In the first 5 years of my Honda's CRVs life and my Integra before that Honda were forever hounding me about servicing. Finally stopped when out of warranty and I ignored them.
Subaru seem to be more relaxed and I get a service about once a year when its convenient. They are happy not to overservice and just do an oil and filter change and just check for safety issues if it hasnt reached a mileage where more needs to be done. Their costs are far more reasonable than Honda's too.

I used to have a Sierra. Bulletproof.
It had its first oil change at about 100k!
(long story). Second owner, it only ever let me down once in about 10 years when a tie rod broke. Did 2 trips SYD - ADL in it. I once used it to tow just over a tonne to the tip.

Yep totally bombproof those Jimny Sierras
Many are still running though in paddocks unregistered.

There is a significant market for those Stockman micro utes.
A Polaris side by side ATV almost the same price for a lot less vehicle.

Cant wait! hopefully they will bring in the Stockman though the link above is quiet about the ute version
