So... what car do you guys drive when not flying?

Just heard that as of next year VW Aus is not getting any Golf with the Diesel engines

Something about new economy and emissions testing regulations being introduced worldwide.
They are still be manufactured but backwater small town Australia not getting them.

Took my Porsche ragtop (roof down) out for a drive on Friday. Didn't have any traffic hold me up on the loop road through the Brindabellas. A brilliant drive- got a bit sun/wind burnt though..
I had my roof down the other day too - was great! I wasn't going through the Brindies though, just going home from work.

Recently got to drive DS7 in Europe for two weeks and was very impressed.

Was surprised how superior it was to some of the German SUVs I’ve tested previously (Audi Q5, BMW X5 etc), never thought I’ll say that about a French car :)

Well not backwater as you say. Europe is getting rid of diesels in cars. Diesel is dead. Australia might just be the backwater for sticking with diesel.

Very nice @blackcat20. And the white on black numberplate looks like a good choice.

Whilst I hope it stays nice and shiny for a while, thank you for buying a new car to make it rain. :D
Twice now it's rained when I've taken delivery of a new car

At least the rain has eased off compared with a few days ago.

Re Dents:
Today
P plater son

“Sorry dad I tried to close the door before reversing out of garage”

“Ok, well, next time why don’t you try to close the door before starting the car?”

Pulled it back a bit - at least it will close and lock. Just needs a new metal door, the trim, window is OK. Maybe seal needs replacing

When I was dating my now husband, he phoned me while I was at the hairdresser to report similar damage.

Him: I was reversing and felt some resistance and heard a funny noise but I didnt think much of it so tried to reverse again.

Me: o_O. Its ok, things can be fixed

Him: You dont understand, I cant even close the door, its bent back on itself!

Me: Lets not have children. We shouldnt risk it for another generation.

(I wasnt thrilled about the damage but it was done and I was happy it wasnt engine damage and he wasnt injured )

Perhaps within cities, but diesel is still the best fuel for some uses. It will disappear from passenger cars, but not SUVs and trucks. My favourite electric car (Jag I-Pace) would be just about useless in many of the places I drive to....

1 month scratch free is reasonable. My current car had a shopping centre dent at Brandnew+6 days

Denting my car because you can't be bothered taking any care is grounds for immediate execution.

2 reasons why I buy diesel:

>30,000 km per car per year
Nearly all cars are diesel. Don’t want petrol-diesel mix in a fuel tank

In Shopping centres I look for parking where I’m next to a pillar so if it gets dented by another car it will only be on one side
