The Tesla electricity usage (Model Y long range) averages 14.5kWh/100kmJust have to consider whether I should get my first EV or not, no solar panels so charged from mains
If your overnight electricity tariff is 25c/kWh, 100km = $3.60
This equates to about 2L petrol/100km
If you drive 15000/year the electricity cost is $540.
There are also electricity tariffs which are EV charging friendly and has a super low overnight tariff. Some are 8c/kWh but they get it back by putting up the other parts of the tariffs.
Solar is not necessary to own an EV and in fact may actually cost depending on when most of your electricity of consumed as the feed in tariff these days is minuscule.
