Mad Mel on 2SM.Now that is a blast from the past.50 years ago I lived in Sydney and 2SM was quite popular.It went for the youth market but was owned by the Catholic Church.Which was why the first song played by 2JJ was this song which 2SM wasn't allowed to play.

I've listened to JJ pretty much since it hit the air and now listen to JJJ and JJJ Unearthed. I think JJJ has lost its way somewhat.

I grew up twisting the dial, Canberra had only one commercial station, 2CA, which did play a variety of music at the time, but I couldn't resist finding other stuff that was out there. 2SM, 3XY, 4IP for music, once a lot of stations shut down late at night, overseas stations could be heard. Then there was shortwave, but I digress.

Can't say I remember Mad Mel, but I do remember Holger Brockman on 2CA before he went to 2SM and became Bill Drake.

These days I listen to the community radio wherever I am located as they have a lot of the older songs I remember well.Usually just in the car though.

I have a very short attention span, so I don't tend to stay on one station too long.

I was never a Cold Chisel fan, but this song from Ian Moss takes me back to a certain time and place from which I have good memories.

Kirk Lorange, a much underrated musician, imo, and as above good memories for me.

Today on the car radio i heard again the song I associate with Launceston as i was working here when it was released and it was played constantly.The day i climbed to the summit of Ben Lomond I heard it 4 times which seemed appropriate when you know the lyrics.

One of the first albums I bought was The Ann Arbor Jazz and Blues Festival from 1969. Introduced me to a lot of good music, anyway I lost all those albums many years ago, yesterday I found a cd on a well known selling site.
