So, what music are you listening to now?

Still haven't pulled the trigger on any turntable setup, but I did pull the trigger on the 20th Anniversary Super Deluxe Edition of Linkin Park's sophomore album, "Meteora" which I stumbled across for a good $100 below the normal asking price.

Since I got back into learning Japanese and using music as another means of exposing myself to the language, my Apple Music and YouTube feeds are full of J-Pop and J-Rock offerings. Whilst not all of it is to my taste, there is some great music coming out of Japan and I've found some artists/bands that I really like. One such example is Ado, whose music - whilst not my typical taste - has really grown on me (possibly due to her rather unique vocal stylings). Scrolling my YouTube feed the other day, I was surprised to see that Imagine Dragons have released a track in collaboration with Ado. It's a seemingly random collaboration, but bugger me if it isn't a super catchy track that I can see being on high rotation for the summer!

Have a look at what Len Wallis Audio has in the used department. You might end up mixing something used with something new. The used gear has been checked over to make sure it all works. At the least you will get good advice. lenwallisaudio.com
and 20% sale on their used equip atm

As mentioned elsewhere, JJ is celebrating 50 years on air today by replaying their original broadcast,

Good stuff, real mixture of music, of course SkyHooks, Stones, Deep Purple, Foghat, Janice J, John Denver, Springsteen, The Doors, Lou Reed, even Paul McCartney, Clapton, Santana, Renee Geyer, Wishbone Ash, The Band and so many more.

Some really good memories there, but Holger Brockmann playing John Denver!

The Captain Matchbox Whoopee Band! Wangaratta Wahine.

On another sad note, Arnold Frolows who had been with JJ/JJJ since it's inception, died last week, 3 days before his 75 birthday and of course todays celebration. Chris Winter is another no longer here, Room to Move, this was for me a must listening experience before the J's.

Even newscorp mentioned Arnold's passing.....

Greatest piano concert ever recorded.

In the 70's I was in to jazz acts like Sadao Watanabe (Japan) and Eberhard Weber (Germany). Had albums like Funky Thide of Sings ... who was that... oh, Billy Cobham. Used to drop in to a bar in Yokohama, The Windjammer, which had alot of Jap.jazz acts.

Edit: I digressed. Started thinking about Eberhard Weber (1970's piano?) as a similar act, and then wandered off a bit. Keep up.

IMHO nothing is like the Koln concert. Stunningly brilliant.

I have met Eberhard Weber a number of times in the UK and on tour in Australia when he was the double bassist with Jan Gabarek quartet for many years, also did quite a few solo albums. Also with Ralph Towner, Barbara Thompson, Pat Matheny and others. Part of the ECM stable under Manfred Eicher. Very unfortunate he had a stroke in 2007 and hasn’t been able to play anymore I believe.

Edit: Hommage à Eberhard Weber - Wikipedia

You were very fortunate. Best I managed was some social meetings of rock musicians in uk, oh and was in studio for 1st electronic album Mike Clarke (1976), not the entire time ... it took months of painstaking work, I just dropped in sometimes.
