I think people are mixing up positions/status with titles.

Mary held three different positions as Queen Mary
-Queen Consort (until death of George V)
-Queen Mother (until death of George VI)
-Queen Dowager (until her death).

She was titled HM Queen Mary for all three.

Her daughter in law was
-Queen Consort (until death of George VI) - titled as HM Queen Elizabeth
-Queen Mother (until her death) - titled as HM Queen Elizabeth, The Queen Mother (Queen Mother for short).

Getting ready in SE26 for Day 2, the day of celebrations which will be a street party for the local community.

That looks like the street in SE26 I used to live in. DFR?
Edit: Have looked on google maps and probably not but I think nearby in Lower Sydenham. New owners have replaced our old front garden with a parking spot too

Find it hilarious already talking about what happens when Charles dies and he hasn't even been in office a year.

Of course, due to his advanced age I am likely to be not watching the next coronation within 15 years - I believe you can already place a bet on when he will depart.

Coronation concert shaping up well. Look out for the collaborative Romeo and Juliet piece.

Most of the big names invited to perform declined - Elton John, Adele, Ed Sheeren, Kylie, The Spice Girls, Harry Styles, Robbie Williams - says a lot that these UK and Aussies didn't want to be associated with this event. While Ed is touring, its been noted that Adele, Sir Elton and Kylie did not have prior engagements which would have prevented them from performing if they had wanted to.

Funny those that accepted were American Katy Perry and Lionel Ritchie.

MrP made a Sportsbet months ago betting that Meggie wouldn't be attending the coronation.

Wow - to know that much detail, it must have really attracted your attention. 😀. Still, keep an eye out for the Romeo and Juliet piece - it was lovely. A collaboration between
Royal Ballet
Royal Shakespeare Company
Royal College of Music
Royal College of Art
Royal Opera

You think anyone really gives a stuff if 'Kylie' (??) didn't perform 😀

Honestly, its a bit sad to feel the need to be posting about someone's anticipated death 🙁.

Not necessarily. These days gigs are booked a year or more in advance and with all the Covid cancellations are less likely to be cancellable now so as not to annoy the fans more than what Covid did. The Jubilee concert on the other hand was planned years in advance.

Not really, both are ambassadors for The Prince's Trust, which he sees as his legacy (the same way QEII saw the Commonwealth).

He's not even delegating it down - so it's really the King's Trust now - but they're not changing the name.

King Charles has a lot of close relationships with performers - the fact he called Barry Humphries on his death bed is a good example.

Not sure how true but I've read KC enjoyed acting whilst studying at University but obviously that had to be sidelined.

I think the expectation of when the current monarch dies starts as soon as they are named as the monarch.
The procedure would need to be in place to announce the death, who would go where etc

Hoping to be around for the next coronation

Elton John had performances in Germany before and after the coronation, and didn;t (or couldn't) want to dash back and forth.

Kylie has probably read the room in Australia.

The Coronation was probably the most amazing event I've seen in my life. So good to see the Australian element present too, from the Diamond Jubilee State Coach to the involvement of the Earl of Loudon in the ceremony (who comes from Wangaratta of all places), and the troops of the Federation Guard on parade. It made me feel proud to be Australian.

Also the Australian State Coach (used on the Coronation by the Prince of Wales and his family) which was our bicentennial gift to QEII - so in fact there are two Australian made State Coaches. I don't see any Kiwi or Canuk State Coaches!

Yes, during the performances, they had a recounting of everything he's done in his life. acting, music, painting, military service, dancing emilitary service, dancing and action on the environment, of course.

Today’s Monday here, and it’s national day of volunteering and reaching out to help others in the community. another coronation event. wonder if Kylie will be there?

We obviously have very different definitions of amazing. Very glad i didnt waste any time watching it.
So how do you know that it didn’t fall into your definition of amazing?

The Monarchy would fail if no one took any notice of it. I think The Firm would be pleased with all the posts in this thread .

"There’s only one thing worse than being talked about, and that’s not being talked about."

So how do you know that it didn’t fall into your definition of amazing?

Quite easy. Amazing is defined as "causing great surprise or wonder; astonishing."

Nothing remotely amazing about an heir donning a crown and cape and being annoited <redacted>. It was entirely predictable, required no talent whatsoever just pure luck to be born into the right family and not dying before his mother.
