Just putting the feelers out to get people's experiences here...

I'm looking at going to London in August next year. I currently have enough VFF points to get a reward seat on MEL-AUH or SYD-AUH return (or rather, will in a couple of months). Is it worth booking these flights with points and then booking the legs at either end (I'd be going HBA-MEL/SYD-AUH-LHR) separately? (domestic leg would be about $200, AUH-LHR about $850-1000). Does the call centre accommodate requests like this if I were to book through them?

You might find it is better value to fly one way to the UK on points, then buy a one way flight back.... cash cost won't be much different to what you've mentioned, and points are only 62500 rather than 94000 for the AUH return.

MH was surprisingly quite cheap from IST to MEL/SYD one way $600 ish with a free KUL stopover when I checked 2 weeks ago. It was only cheap coming back. Going out was not attractive at all.

No flights showing on MH IST-KUL past the 30th of June 2014, I wonder if they're dropping the route or just haven't loaded flights yet...
