Songs that go through your head in certain places

On my first flight to London, in the days before in-flight entertainment, as we approached Heathrow, with me eagerly peering out the window, from the PA came the first movement of Vaughan Williams 5 th Symphony.

That sure was an emotional mix for me.

Ever since, every time I fly into London RVW’s symphonic master piece totally occupies my senses and no matter what turmoil is about me it is still ringing in my ears until I pull myself together at immigration.

+1 to LA International Airport and Santa Monica Blvd.
Also Hollywood Nights while driving in the hills.
Takin it Easy by the Eagles in Winslow, Arizona
Miami Vice Theme in Miami
Hawaii Five O in HNL.
Any country driving song in the South of USA
Elvis in Graceland/Memphis area.
Beatles in Liverpool.

Home On Monday by Little River Band is a song I would get into my head when I would be stuck in Las Vegas at a trade show by myself (before Skype and email) and feeling lonely and it started about 36 years ago for me. The cost of calling home to Australia out of the hotel was hexy and a bit difficult.
I still call Australia home when I would be a couple of days from boarding QF12 or QF108 (years ago).

On our recent NZ trip there were quite a few songs that kept going around.

"Six Months in a Leaky Boat" especially the second verse
"Aotearoa - rugged individual
Glisten like a pearl
At the bottom of the world"

Also "Love Lifts Us Up Where We Belong" but just for the line:
"There are mountains
in our way..." sung in my very worst Joe cougher (may he rest in peace) voice.

Someone back there mentioned Solsbury Hill by Peter Gabriel - always thought of this song when out in Wiltshire - I thought it was about the mysterious manmade hill "Silbury Hill" but perhaps not.

"Viva Las Vegas"

Played it about 30 times while we were there.

Don't think the boys asked me to change it once.

The Girl from Ipanema whenever I'm waiting or in lifts. Brother and Mum got damned annoyed when I started whistling in the lift upto the KehlSteinHaus (the eagle's nest).

Whenever I'm with the family and I see a certain item on the menu I start singing "Jumbalaya!" to the tune of this. In fact I used to think that's what the song title was.

(Funnily enough there is a song by that name apparently.)

This has been going through my head today.Due to a very large cane toad turning up last night so for the second time my trusty sand wedge came out. However being large his initial flight had no effect so off he hopped but straight to a brick wall.
Then-bang,bang Ronnie's silver club came down upon his head. Now he's in a bag in the bin waiting to be picked up in today's collection.

Approach into LAX or JFK...
