SQ offering status without flying

Status

Yes, based on current promotions it will be extended for a further year until Feb 2024. Any elite miles you have on 28 February will be carried across for a further year to count towards the renewal in 2024.

(the dates in my post are specific to your own membership cycle and would be different for people whose cycle ends in a month other than February).
Great stuff. Thanks for that. I will be curious to see when it gets updated online to reflect that. Perhaps not till next Feb.

Yes, they said it would not be updated - it would just be renewed automatically at the end of the cycle.

I have 555k points in Krisflyer already. Most of this will expire next year.
I don't fly often enough to get status and need only 10,140 elite miles to hit gold.
Should I do it?
How easy is it to get Qantas to status match?

If you don't fly much, there's not much value in status. KF gold would get you into a *A business class lounge or a VA lounge for the next two years. But you would add to your stockpile of SQ miles and unless you have a plan for how to spend them, you would just be adding to your problem. You can extend miles once only for a fee - for an extra six months of validity normally or 12 months if you have status. Is that attractive or would you just be paying to kick the can down the road for another six months?

Well hopefully we are about to get back to some major travel. It will be good to have a choice between OW and * when travelling around Europe.
Neither of us will chase status for the next couple of years. We both have back up of LT OWS.
I used all my Amex points - they always in recent years have been transferred to KF. I got to * Gold but fallen a couple of thousand short of the requalifying target. Have enough CBA points to get there but unfortunately only enough for 9600 KF miles. So close yet so far.

CBA points show up almost immediately - could you put $1000 of spend through on the card immediately and transfer the points on Monday? Or is that cutting it too fine?

Anyone have any experience in how long transfers from Amex to kris flyer are taking. With today being a Saturday (26th) and only one working day left before the 28th Feb expiry…
Given I already have velocity gold for the next year, wasn’t going to bother with this promotion, but an extra year of virgin lounge (plus who knows, might be doing som international travel soon), thought it is worth it. But if a risk with the transfer time, I would leave it.

Almost immediate (10-15 min) based on my experience in November and last month.

I've done 3 transfers from Amex to KF since early this month, the most recent a couple of days ago, and each time they have been in my KF account instantly. As soon as I've done the transfer from Amex I log back in to KF and the miles are already there.

Thankyou for the heads up. Will transfer now.
For anyone else interested, my points appeared in my krisflyer account instantaneously. Still awaiting confirmation of gold status. But 250k points in account.

Gold status takes about a day to show.

Question: I got Silver from this promotion.
It says I need 10k to reach Gold before Nov 22.
What happens if I transfer an amount now to make it say 1k to hit Gold.
I will take a flight later this year to earn Gold in October. Does that mean I get Gold until October 2024?

I decided to go for gold yesterday but I think I screwed up.
My exp is March 2023... does this mean I won't get the extension?

As things stand you will not get the extension. I would advise reaching out to them immediately to get the accrual date corrected while they still remember the rules.

You transferred on 28 February and under their terms, that means the elite miles should have been credited in February and status should expire in Feb 23.

If necessary, explain to them that your intention is to lock in their promise of status rollover - otherwise they may think they have done you a solid by giving you an extra month.

I also have expiry showing 31 Jan 2023. I will also reach out to them.
To whom did you message? Can you provide link please?
Your fine.
They will auto extend yours at the end of Jan 2023.
The extension promotion is for all elite status expiring between now until February 2023 to be extended for another year.

Mine expires March 2023 which is not currently included
