SQ offering status without flying

210k KF in Nov will get you 241.5k KF then balance 10k KF in Feb?

If SQ awards the bonus 15% you might not meet their rules of having 250KF transfer into your account.

You could perhaps test by transferring enough to get Silver. ie Do your 210KF in two tranches.

Isn’t Silver as good as Gold if you only want the 12-month extension option?

If this is accurate, then they are the same with respect to that benefit:

However I note:

If your miles are expiring for the first time, you can extend them for 6 months. Select miles expiring in the next six months and you can extend them at a service fee of 1,200 KrisFlyer miles or USD 12 for every 10,000 miles. If youve extended any of these miles before, you wont be able to extend them again.

So the question is for any points that SQ has already provided a free 6 month extension for due to Covid, would they then allow a a further free 6 month extension for Silver/Gold? Or would you just jump to a paid 6 month extension?

I had no idea about this promo until today 🤗
Transferred points from Amex MR and instantly booked two J returns to LHR yesterday evening.
Email arrived this morning with update to status.
Same here: transferred on Saturday and booked flights, got an email welcoming me as a Silver, then another email saying 15% bonus if I'd transferred points from the the Dragon today. Oh well, win some, win some a little less. I now see *lots* of Advantage availability (all Saver waitlisted) that weren't there last week as I look for EU flights for my son.

Oh yes I think you are right. No elite miles on the 15% bonus

I think the 15% Bonus miles will accrue PPS Value/Elite miles which will be credited 3 weeks after the bonus campaign ended, as stated in the FAQ. But I'm not sure whether the 15% bonus miles need to be at least 10 000 KrisFlyer miles to be eligible for Elite miles or not.

17. Are Bonus Miles earned under this Campaign eligible to accrue PPS Value or Elite miles under the KrisFlyer "Unlock Status Credits without Flying Campaign"?

Bonus KrisFlyer and KrisPay miles from conversion under this Campaign will be eligible to accrue PPS Value or Elite miles under the KrisFlyer "Unlock Status Credits without Flying" campaign. The earning of status credits will be subject to the Terms and Conditions of the KrisFlyer "Unlock Status Credits without Flying" campaign.

18. When will I receive the PPS Value or Elite miles in my account?

The KrisFlyer miles and/or KrisPay miles must be converted successfully in accordance with the applicable conversion timeframe specified in the bank partner's terms and conditions.

PPS Value / Elite miles will be credited into the recipient's KrisFlyer account in accordance with the following table:

Types of Status credits (PPS Value or Elite miles) as applicableLead time for crediting

KrisFlyer miles
Earned on the Base KrisFlyer miles converted

Earned on the Bonus KrisFlyer miles
7 (seven) working days after the Base KrisFlyer miles have been credited for the qualifying conversion transaction

3 weeks after the campaign period, i.e. by 14 December 2021 or such other date as SIA may prescribe from time to time 10,000

transferred in 210k KF and made it to silver.
42000 elite miles
8000 needed by 30 Nov 2022 to make it to gold mine says
in Dec the 42000 should increase to account for the elite miles earnt on the bonus 15%
will transfer in more in Feb 2022 now.

So, who else is thinking of using this to get a Qantas Gold status match, announced yesterday?

Not sure if/how it is policed, but technically you're only eligible for the Qantas Gold match if you've earned status with the other airline from flying (not promos, family pooling, other status matches, etc.)

The 15% credits immediately when you transfer into KF, and you don't earn elite miles on them afaik?
you do. will be awarded in Dec as per the promo FAQ

Ah ffs I missed post #45. Oh well.

There's another opportunity here though. Once you get Elite Gold status, your "review date" resets to that date and you then have 12 months to earn the required 50,000 Elite Miles to requalify for another year.

If you were to transfer another 250,000 KrisFlyer miles from a credit card in, say, January 2022, you would then still get to keep your KrisFlyer status until ~December 2023.

This is assuming you have another 250,000 KrisFlyer miles (in credit card equivalent) to transfer and have a use for all those KrisFlyer miles.

I like your thinking,.. I have 600k MR which I was on the fence about transferring over to SQ before doing the cancellation dance with Amex.

This is what I am hoping as well ;)

The 15% extra got me over the fence to move all my points over by Nov22. My wife may have enough points by Feb to get Gold. But may just miss. The extra 15% will bea bigger benefit than her being Silver. Though points extension will be ok too with her smaller balance.

The way I look at it Gold now extends many or all my points so that I can book with points that were already there so that I can fly well into 2023 (and maybe early 2024.
One unknown is my points expiring in Dec 2021 which will be extended by SQ till June 22. Will SQ allow me to extend them? Or will they say that they are not eligible as they have already been extended one.

The points I transfer in now will not expire till Nov 2024. So I can use them to fly well into 2025. And that extra 15% will provide a litter extra.

So the current two promos combine, for my circumstances, to get me more points and to smooth them out by extending the life of some of them. Plus Krisflyer is my preferred Awards program anyway and most of my redemptions are booked via them including *A and Partner Redemptions.. Though I do redeem benefits in another 3.

And I have moved some initially to get Gold, and will move more before the 22nd hoping that it then renews my Gold till Nov 2023.

In the end, I just went with silver for my wife and my account - I valued the 12 mph point expiry and couldn't see the benefit of moving more points across for each of us and starting the 3 year clock ticking (as we have a decent store of points already) - as we get lounge access anyway, other than the personal enjoyment of SQ gold :), I couldn't see any other tangible benefit for us - maybe priority wait-list reservation but I'm not convinced from other comments whether this is that really tangible as a benefit
