SQ service reductions during May

That's not great news, but it certainly is if you're waiting on SQ to cancel flights. That should be the last nail in the coffin for our suite flights to London and back in May.

And mine in June to LHR as well.

However I actually think that it is actually good news for the population here as Australia is still importing too many people who have Covid19 where that be plane or by ship.

I was being holistic, it's not good news for Singapore! Great news for me, you ,many others.

Looks like SQ services from SIN to Australia will be ceasing from the weekend.

No availability showing after Saturday to anywhere in Australia.

So no flights from SIN to Australia from 29th March to 11th April, inclusive at this stage. No flights from Australia to SIN from the 30th March to 12th April, inclusive. Not that it matters, for all but a very insignificant number of people who can still travel between the two countries with isolation restrictions (ie. more or less just Australian citizens who hold permanent residence in Singapore (such as yours truly) and Singapore citizens who hold permanent residence in Australia).

Flight cancelled.....but the next leg not yet cancelled (ie still shows on website), and also they only are pushing rebooking
only with no option for where the cancellation just means that you no longer want to fly at all and so just want the back the points and taxes (and for others that were not redemptions just the $$)

Does anyone know exactly know what unused portion of the ticket has been retained and there is no action required from you. means?

I'm starting to rethink our plan. I was going to straight-out cancel and get the miles returned. However, I'm starting think I need to protect those miles by keeping a booking alive eg, change the date for as far out as I can.

I believe it is highly likely all surviving airlines will need to revalue / reset their loyalty schemes once we emerge from the other side of this global mess. Devaluation is one of the ways they'll achieve that.

If I keep the booking alive, the miles will retain their current value, if I cancel and refund, the miles run a very high risk of being worth a lot less than they are today.

On another matter - I've ceased paying for any miles / points, no matter how cheap the cost, or how great the earn will be. No point adding millions and millions to an already massive number just sitting there waiting to be donated to an unworthy cause.

yes i deferred one trip till the max the SQ form would allow, 31st March 2021.

yes you raise a very interesting/valid point.
the thought did cross my mind for a split second but didn't get a chance to analyse the thought more in my head, till now.

think this deserves another thread for proper discussion :)

Greetings, was traveling to Mel - Sin - Han at Easter, Singapore have obviously cancelled our flights with everything going on. We booked using Krisflyer points, just wondering if anyone has had success claiming some form of a refund lately. Was told to take a credit but at this stage the 12 months timeframe wont be enough. Impossible to get hold of them at this stage as others have reported. Any thoughts from anyone are appreciated. Cheers

Our SYD>SIN and SIN>SYD flights cancelled but not the SIN>JNB and return sectors

Filled out the online form requesting cancellation and points return last week and no response yet - will submit another form later this week before I spend hours on the phone waiting. I would cancel online but they still want $$$ per person when I try

Cheers, think were in the same boat. :(

Due to fly on Saturday, SQW cancelled. Went through process last week of ringing, but to no avail. Filled out the form, but have heard nothing as want a refund.

Instigated charge back today via credit card company.

I had success regarding a chargeback on the Singapore accommodation with Amex, took 5 days with success. Unfortunately Singapore flights booked with a closed credit card, card churning. Outsmarted myself.

If it’s a reward flight one may endanger the points doing a chargeback. The dollar amount is fairly low compared to the number of points.

Our flight is departing 6th May, returning 21st May - SYD-SIN-LHR-SIN-SYD. All flights are suites - saver - out / advantage - back

A couple of days ago SQ changed aircraft for the return flight - now A350 doing the LHR-SIN (business) and 777 SIN-SYD (first) ..... yeah, but no thanks!

Just spent a good hour + on the phone. The rules as explained to me:

- You have a 12 month extension from the date you booked. For me, that clock starting ticking on the 28th May 2019 for the outbound flight
- For the return flight I can cancel with no penalty due to SQ changing the class of travel
- If I cancel the outgoing flight the penalty is $75USD / pp and full refund of points
- I asked the agent to search (advantage) new suites for LHR-SIN-SYD .... nothing available past Jan 2021 ... given I booked advantage, this is not a good sign!

I ended up keeping my powder dry, and will think on it, but I'm guessing shifting flights will be bloody hard. Might as well wait out for a cancellation or cabin change ..... and hope the miles don't get butchered too much.

Good luck to all.

Kinda related, four SQ A380’s arrived at Alice Springs today (9V-SKT/W/Y/Z) one would imagine for long term storage. Two Scoot A320’s also arrived.

And to top it off an SQ 777 also arrived carrying the flight number SQ212, not sure why. If going into storage why was it using the SIN-SYD flight number? Maybe picking up the crew? But you would think if so they would do that on the way back to Singapore.
