My wife and I were woken up by multiple SMS messages late a night. Poor form from Singapore Air. Also received emails which would have been sufficient without SMS.

Have booked a short trip to Japan for January, first time visiting so am quite excited.

Managed to get J savers for my wife and I from Perth - Tokyo ("new" business from SIN-NRT on the 777).

Will be on the "new" F from NRT-SIN on the 777 and then J back to Perth.

Have been on A380 suites and business before, so looking forward to experiencing the changes.

I've found the 77Ws to be significantly noiser than the A380s even in J. Found it a little hard to sleep with all the engine noise...

Yeah interesting point. Given the opportunity for leave from work only came up recently, I could only book last month so there was no availability for suites on the A380. The only overnight flight is J from SIN-NRT; will probably take Cruisers suggestion once ready to sleep if having difficulties!

I love the GE90, gives me the goosebumps everytime it spools up half way and then to full power on takeoff (I think there's a particular way SQ pilots do it, I've flown the 77W loads with CX too and it feels a bit different... although I may be totally wrong here).

But that amazing feeling goes away fairly quick as once we're in the air, the engine is really loud compared to the A380 and I think it actually sounds a bit like the farm tractors lol. Thankfully, I got in on a pair of QC15s a while ago and this is probably the best travel related investment I've ever made.

Currently on MEL-xSIN-LHR SQ218 (F) and SQ308(R) next year. Considering moving the MEL-SIN to the day before for a day flight to SIN and overnight in SIN.... How long until a transit becomes a stopover and you have to pay the 100USD fee? 24hours? I think this change is free to make right?

Correct - > 24hrs and it is a stopover and you will need to cough up USD100 - if you can see availability on the sector you want you can try changing yourself online - if it will do it obviously easiest way to proceed - if not call KF to assist.

There have been a number of recent schedule changes about which we have been notified by SMS and advising SQ will contact pax to confirm:

Unfortunately SQ are a bit tardy here and are not calling - so you cannot access your booking via 'Manage My Booking' until you contact SQ - or them you - to confirm - anybody with confirmed bookings might like to check this point.

Thanks Cruiser.
Yes - very frustrating system.
When Qantas changes a booking, they send a link for pax to confirm they are happy with changes.
SQ instead wake us at night with an SMS, then it is difficult to get hold of them by phone and meanwhile, as you state, the booking can't be accessed.
If you could just take the best bit from each airline and put them all together...

PS - just had my Krisflyer Platinum card arrive at the branch - just in time before they stopped new applications.

Where did we get to on mixed class redemptions besides that you have to call up?

Eg SYD-HAN (hanoi) where there is no F cabin on the SYD-HAN leg, how does this price?

Prices at highest cabin level for both sectors - easy to do - call them - 15% disc will apply as cannot be booked online.

Hi cruiser. Yes I recall that's what the advice has been. But what happens when there isn't a highest cabin? Ie above example where it's a 3 class followed by a 2 class and you want to fly F and then J?

dd there is a highest cabin on each flt - F on SYD-SIN leg / J on SIN-HAN leg - so if you do mixed class cabin redemption it prices at F rates for both sectors regardless that there is no physical F cabin on the SIN-HAN sector. Hanoi is classified as a Zone 3 dest by SQ - Zone 3 includes Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam, Myanmar and Cambodia. O/W J saver SYD to Zone 3 dest 55K pts - O/W F Saver SYD to Zone 3 dest 75K pts - so if you take F on SYD-SIN sector and J SIN-HAN sector - you must pay at F rates for both sectors 75K pts less 15% disc.

Perfect, thanks!
