SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

Yep, thats the one I've spoken with 3 times today. Currently on hold waiting to speak to the manager (who is on another call as we speak).

No chance of having it resolved tonight and priced for a straight F redemption for MEL-HAN or DAD-MEL. Has to go via the appeal process (escalation to management for approval), which Carl (manager on duty) says in his experience, it will go through without issue.

Everyone I spoke with today has said there has been a policy change that has not yet made it to the website, and could not budge despite reading out the general notes on the reward chart. Incredibly frustrating that it is so hit and miss in the call centre.

I'm going to wait the 1-2 days for it to be appealed and approved.

Only 2 pax in MEL SKL F lounge right now and in walks 3 more pax quickly followed by front desk rep who politely advises 'Sorry but your J BPs entitle you to J Class Lounge and you have mistakenly walked into the F Class Lounge'.

1 male and 1 female imm turn to leave but a 2nd female in the group gives the Lounge rep an absolute earful - 'There is nobody hear it's bloody empty why do we have to leave'

I am not going to tolerate anybody doing their job to be subjected to this so immediately stood up and glared at all 3 - other 2 readily saw the error of her ways and shuffled her out quick smart - never a dull moment huh?

So they made the mistake of thinking you were a nobody. ;)

Not at all prozac - this kid is only doing her job - nobody deserves that.

It wasn't a criticism Cruiser. I was impressed with what could be achieved by a glare and that the sanctity of F was maintained. I would have tried to do the same in J albeit probably not as effectively as you. It was kudos. ;)

77WN on 228 today - always a pleasant surprise - have slept on these fokkers like 20 times on 217/227 - rarely been awake to enjoy that newer product.

Tip #1 for 77WN - as soon as you take your seat politely ask crew if they can swap this wheel chock type F cushion:

On a recent visit to Mel F lounge on Aug 9th the front desk rep was absolutely the best....
I was heading to board an Etihad Apartment flight to AUH but needed a boarding pass for a SQ flight later the next day to avoid any issues at Mumbai transit.
I knocked on lounge door and after explaining situation, was professionally welcomed in and assisted with all my requirements. The front desk rep said 'no need to go to gate yet... stay here for 20mins and enjoy our lounge'
on leaving I thanked her again and got her name so I could give positive feedback to SQ re the service she had provided.
How any-one could give these reps "an earful" is beyond me... but as we know we see examples of 'perfect public behaviour' on many of these threads......Good on Cruiser for doing your bit.....

Yes you will have access to TPR and F Lounge - if you paid F rates for a mixed class booking you are eligible for F benefits entirety of booking.

How's this work in practice? I have a 36hr layover in SIN then onto a J ticketed (Mixed class F booking) flight. If the ticket has J on it, is it as simple as showing the original F ticket with the same booking reference or do I need to do something else?

If I recall correctly generally you're entitled to F lounge at both departure and arrival (have a shower when you arrive), so you won't even need to mention your J ticket just that you came in on F.

For a layover - you can mention that it was a mixed class booking and that you paid for it at that rate, but was downgraded to J as F wasn't available.

SO via David Jones?? :)

Maybe I should get the mother-in-law to whip up some houndstooth cushion covers so we can pretend back in PE

dec should not be a problem if you have paid F rates for entire booking - normally you are entitled to same day arrival access into TPR/SKL F Lounge when arriving into SIN and holding R or F BP - but in your case when dep SIN 36hrs later with J BP on mixed class booking you should still have same TPR/SKL F access - senior lounge staff will know this but the girls and boys on entry may not be 100% familiar - if a query just explain and you should be right.

As reported in another thread by Danger UXB the PH Rare no longer breathes in TPR - has been replaced by 1995 CH Blanc des Millenaires:

Whilst different plonk still same gorgeous TPR staff looking after your every want and desire:

Nur is is just a star - such a gorgeous young lady:

This new CH is a very robust Champagne - think Krug - personally prefer the elegance of the PH Rare - but having said that I am more than prepared to weather the storm and just see if the new CH will grow on me.
