There are two aspects of the mixed class discussion:

Mixed class travel for different sections. - Getting the itinerary you want with some sectors in J & some in F.

Optimising miles for mixed classes. - A redemption will be calculated as if the entire trip is done in the higher class.

Both of these aspects cannot be achieved online, requires call centre assistance.

For us in BNE, I'm positioning out of Melbourne to join an SQ Suites redemption but on the way back just have to be back in BNE by a certain date. It's the same redemption miles for me to come back SIN-BNE as it would be to complete the last leg in F. grrrr

Mind you would not have cost me a cent on CC if Cruiserette did not decide fist full of vouchers I had last July would be best used at Charles and Keith Shoes in T3 at that time.

I wish I could ban that store from being used on my CC... It's a shame that I enjoy sitting upstairs and eating BK in T3..and then the little miss decides she will like a few new items since she doesn't like burgers she can go and shop while I eat.

I think all my vouchers have been 'earned' on redemption flights, its like free money! Well done on saving so many, I always feel the need to burn them on the spot at the DFS right near the claims counter. It's a bit of a shame that all of my travel goes to SGN, as the trip to there earns $40 from PER..but on the way home it is only worth $20! I was outraged the first time and let the voucher lady know about it!

YES the info given to me now by 4 KF reps does appear to contradict the 'General Notes' at bottom of Award Chart - so I specifically asked rep go look at this - she did so then went off to check with Supervisor - answer was this particular point in 'General Notes' no longer is valid - they alledge changed mid last year - she then informs me they will send off note to IT to get this updated - still the answer she gave me PEK-SIN in J then SIN-MEL in F cost 93K pts wheras PEK-SIN-MEL all in F 76.6K pts.

Alby there is no F on SIN-BNE or BNE-SIN flts right? So I just tried dummy F redemption BNE-SIN-LHR months out - but it will not price it online - defaults to J on both sectors. Do you actually book mixed class Saver Redemptions into / out of BNE? If YES - you call up and they accomodate you? if YES when was last time you did this please?

I know it's probably not the right place but all this talk of the web site and it's limitations reminds me of my most recent visit. Mrs UXB is going to old blighty at the end of this month and many moons ago I had booked her favorite J saver seat MEL to LHR. 11K on the 777W all the way. She works out recently that there are not enough retail therapy days for her in the big smoke so asks if I can get her there a day earlier. Some quick research on the app finds an F saver a day earlier so I think "nice treat F all the way and New F SIN to LHR so long as no equipment changes" . The points cost extra is 31875 so I think just do it. the website processes the change in booking, small charge in extra fees, fine I think ,then says refund 2000 odd points and then shows me the maths!
112625 (F saver to LHR) - 80750 (J saver to LHR) = 2000+ point REFUND ( I forget the actual number) that's logic I think

So there you are it's completely stuffed

Cheers DangerUXB

PS when do you think I should tell her the good news? she still thinks she's going in J!

I would not tell her Danger - let her get the surprise on the day.

And Danger absolutely this is the right thread to post that sort of info - I started this thread for this very purpose - post any SQ info on any topic if said info doesn't warrant specific thread - kinda like a general point reference centre - too often there are way too many threads which are just too narrow.

That's right. Can't do it online. call KF call centre and they do it as a F miles. I booked one as part of *A redemption. J-F-J .

Still confused - not talking *A redemptions - straight out SQ redemptions - J ex BNE then F to final dest or F into SIN then J into BNE - when did you last book one of these stand alone SQ redemptions and how many pts did it cost you?

Ok, me bad. My confusion for this is that I started with a SQ mixed class redemption for the flights I needed. Had this as an unpaid booking then added the intro-european flight at the end which changed it to *A redemption. My miles for the original booking were Saver Award without the 15%. I read in the forum that people achieve it on the phone with the 15% discount but so far I never had.

Of course, the good old website used to allow us to do them online with the 15%...those were the days!

OK so I have been back onto KF this morning and spoke to Charles on Ext 3472 - he says CAN have mixed class Saver Redemption at F Saver rates - he is 5th rep I have spoken to - 4 others say NO must be ticketed as 2 x separate bookings - 76K pts compared to 93K - jeez I have had a guts full of this - will be in phone to Crystal morrow morn to get definitive answer.

So frustrating when you get conflicting information on these sorts of things.

I am looking to book a mixed class TPE- SIN-SYD flight in the next few weeks so interested in the outcome.

I feel your frustration Cruiser Elite

Did you have Charles change your current booking?

No I didn't - the booking I had all the difficulty with was indeed 2 days ago - Feb 24 - 805 in J PEK-SIN then 227 J SIN-MEL on 380. I could see Suite Saver available for weeks on 227 but could net get the KF fockers to come to party to upgrade or change booking to mixed class J PEK-SIN and F SIN-MEL at the F pts rate 76,625 - they just kept insisting - 4 different reps - that is be ticketed as 2 x separate redemptions that I could: 1. Do online and have 2 bookings or 2. They would do for me to give 1 booking and honour 15% disc but either way it would cost me 93K pts.

It still surprises me to this day that SQ website still has issues. I prefer to fly SQ when OS but sometime the website just doesn't want to cooperate.

I've certainly done the below myself, FRA-SIN-PER Suites then J.

Was booked at F saver rates with 15% discount. As per the confusion, I think it all depends on the CSR you get.

pm when did you actually do this? Yesterday I was informed that this indeed WAS possible but it all changed mid last year - further adding to confusion - but I will clarify in morn.

Just got off phone with Crystal in KF - YES petermac and Alby are CORRECT. As per General Notes included in SQ Award Chart for mixed class bookings where higher cabin class is not available on one sector the pts calculation will be at rate required for highest cabin class in that itinerary - ie if one sector F and other sector J because F not offered on onesector then pts calculation for entire trip is at F rate.

Crystal was totally apologetic as she said agents should know these rules - I have now spoken to 6 agents on this matter - 4 have said cannot be done this way and must be ticketed as 2 x separate redemptions and 2 have said YES it can be done this way - 1 redemption at pts rate required for highest cabin.

So any of you guys looking to do this in future I now have 2 reps and their ext numbers who will get you over the line - Crystal will be first port of call but she does not work 24/7 so Charles will be next port of call - just pm me and I will give you their details.
