SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

was disappointed they took delamotte out of krisflyer lounge in SIN.
They had Dellamotte in SKL J? Thank god they took it out! When did they have it?

When flying R or F I invariably wander up or back into J cabin to have a glass of CH - i seriously like it - always in my cellar too.

dd girlie teddy you wanted wasn't it?

not a fan then i take it? was one of the first champers I tried when stepping away from Moet, Veuve etc.

yeah if you've got a 70 year anniversary female i'd love one please!

I think the reference was to the krisflyer gold lounge, not J lounge?

nah J lounge, T3 SIN - probably at least a year ago now, well before they started hiding it in the back

Has anyone booked a mixed class redemption before? I'm trying to go syd-sin-tpe in J which should cost 58000 miles. However I can't get availability from sin-tpe in J so i'd like to downgrade to Y.
If done online, syd-sin = 58k miles then sin-tpe in Y costs 25k miles.

Is that right? I thought it would be cheaper. I called up and they said they would have to do it sector by sector.

You can book the whole thing as one ticket over the phone. It will cost the same as a J booking all the way through. Try googling "krisflyer mixed class redemption".

For book the cook where available I'd highly recommend the "wholesome" range. Really seems to be of higher quality above their other offerings. 4 dishes we had were the citrus steamed sea bass, tagine chicken, quinoa+kale salad and indian lamb chops.

Hi everyone, i am thinking of booking the F saver award to LHR around mid June next year. Do you all think that the A380s will have the new F seats by then ?
(I also assume that the 773 planes out of MEL have new F seats already)

thanks, debating on what to do with BTC on a flight to Munich in late July.

I have a daytime flight from Syd to Singpore, but then the flight leaves at ~midnight for Munich.
Should I eat on the flight, or just in the J lounge prior and sleep the whole way...hmm

What would seasoned travellers recommend?

I'm only going for work for a week, need to hit the ground running upon reaching Munich and then once back in Sydney the following weekend.

The last time I took an ~ midnight flight it left at 0220. The last thing I wanted was food although they valiantly tried to serve it. If it were me, I'd eat first, esp if in the TPR. If the flight leaves on time and you're still hungry and awake, eat twice. :)

I was in the SQ J lounge at SIN at similar hours to what you'll be. I didnt rate the food offerings in the buffet much at all - it was all pretty ordinary and not appealing.

I also asked politely once on board SIN-ZRH (which leaves after midnight) if I could defer my BTC (Satay Skewers) to later in the flight after I'd had a snooze, which they happily obliged. When I woke a few hours later, the crew came up without prompt and asked if I'd like it now - which I was very happy to receive.

So, in short - I'd BTC, and defer it on the chance you dont want it on boarding.

Hi desafinado74

I have no idea how many new F will be in the air , but if you search SIN-LHR from mid June 2018 back SQ322 comes up as "Not Available" every day as a Saver Fare, so I am assuming that flight is possibly one of them, which doesn't bode well.

Yes deka2 I had to go Standard on April flights to LAX. I could have gone business class but that might shock Mrscove.

thanks guys, will take the suggestions on board, literally :)
No TPR for me, unless someone nice here will be there at the same time and can guest me ;) , will post in the SQ lounge thread soon (will be in Changi on 22/07 around 7pm onwards)

Is this really a thing?? I'm kicking myself if it is - I've got a MNL-SIN-MEL J trip booked on the old points table (46,750 KF Points with 15% discount), and if I had've known mixed J/F award at F rates was an option, I would have gladly booked it with MNL-SIN being J (as F is near non-existent), and SIN-MEL being F at cost of (63,750 KF Points with 15% discount). Best 17,000 KF Miles I could've spent!

Would have even been Suites on the A380 on a day flight which I know was available at the time of booking.. and given the overnight stop in SIN I'd have access to TPR on arrival and departure! Oh the Krug!

Can't bring myself to increase KF Miles from 46,750 to 80,000 to try and do it now (no refund of YQ as none charged on old award as flight originates in PH)...and plus the SIN-MEL leg that I'd be after is waitlisted... and that 33,250 increase in miles is almost enough to upgrade a Europe J flight. Argh!

I seriously hope that mixed redemptions arent actually a thing where F is offered on the flight you want to downgrade.

Re: Rumour:[Denied by RR] Qantas to ban JQ SYD-MEL pax from F lounges & send to J lou

yes, it's really a 'thing'. Some call centre agents are unaware they can do it, but mixed class redemptions are stated in the text under the award tables.

Unless you are flying Suites or F with SQ there is no access to TPR.

Nothing stopping you being guested into the F lounge though.
