SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

It isn't quite Suites like our last trip but I really enjoy SQ226 out of PER. A very civilised departure and arrival time and it is almost always the 1-2-1 777 in J.

Also good to see Champagne return to the PER Silverkris lounge. Aubert et Fils brut for those playing at home. It is OK and probably quite cheap but nice to have the option at least.

Looks like SQ is anticipating all 77Ws/WNs changing to WR - one of the last 3-class flights SQ318/319 all changed to 4-class for next year.

I'll simplify things so it's clear to everyone - LX and CA F pax / high status pax can enjoy PH Rare (a seriously good drop and priced way above S$200 every day of the week) if they are eligible to access SKL F Lounge SIN - SQ F pax / high status pax get to enjoy undrinkable cheap shytey S$10 (and I think I am being kind here) bubbly cough in Senator E ZRH and CA F PVG T2.

Happy to clarify further if confusion still exists?

I get why this is frustrating as I've been previously been disappointed to be relegated to the SEN lounge when flying SQ out of FRA/ZRH before too... (not anymore, however :D)
Champagne aside though (absolutely no argument there), I'd rather spend time in the ZRH SEN Lounge E than the dark old SKL F in SIN... only other disadvantage for the SEN lounge is how busy it gets.

That said, in an ideal world, SQ and LH-Group would play nice and allow each others' F pax into their F-only lounges..! For me one of Star Alliance's downfalls vs OneWorld is how F products don't work well together (hard to ticket two carriers in F, lounge access etc)

Just flew SQ226 on Saturday - it was a 1-1-1 in Y :D
Very light load - probably 50% and less in the rear cabin. Excellent crew.
Only downside was arrival into SIN was delayed due to congestion at Changi.

With our family that would be a source of rejoicing as more time for the movies!

Very light load in J last Thursday too. Only about 25% full.

We took the bulkhead pair and there was no one in the seats around us or in the 2 rows behind.

Great service as always and the Wagyu was cooked a perfect medium rare. Really good flight then a short stroll to the Crowne Plaza for a swim and catch the last part of happy hour in the club.

It really is a great way to fly.

Somethings with airlines just make you shake your head! Scoot 100% owned by SQ right? We are in the year of our Lord 2017 right?

Jul 19, 2017 SQ238 MEL-SIN - o/n in SIN then TZ182 SIN-NKG - cannot interline bags in MEL through to NKG - must collect bags in SIN then re-check next morn! Give me a break!

Yep - no go - has to be physically check-in by pax. I begged / pleaded / commanded at check-in MEL - no go - from my 1 and so far only exp cannot be done.

yeah... has always been the case with Scoot. I wonder whether at Singapore they could go and collect the bags for you via transfer desk as JohnK and others have mentioned... it works for other airlines... but I suspect they may follow different rules as they have a service you can pay for called 'scoot through'... if you have connecting scoot flights you can pay to have your bags tagged rather than collect them in Singapore. Allowing pax to use the transfer desk would detract from their revenue.

Yep Trasnsfer desk said they could not help me as I had not paid for 'Scoot Through' - I never even bothered to check before arr MEL to dep as I just assumed it would be automatic to interline.

And I don't even know if you can pay for 'scoot through' unless scoot-->scoot. Anyways, of all places, SIN is probably one of the better to have to collect bags. You can do it at your leisure and at least cut down on waiting as you don't have to do it till checkin opens for the next flight.

does anyone know if its possible to add a stopover to a *A award booked with SQ points, or whether it ultimately just prices as 2 awards? nothing on the redemption chart to suggest possible, but have taken stopover option on SQ redemptions previously. Was thinking about a stop in SIN on way home from ATH

This has probably already been asked, but I couldn't find the answer, apologies... What are the rules around cancellations on upgrades (as opposed to outright redemptions)? Are they allowed at all, and would it mean you're back in the original ticketed fare class? Alternatively, are date changes permitted, and would they be free on SQ metal like outright redemptions?
