SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

Ok it is hard to match Krug and PH Rare. Sparkling vinegar just will not cut it even if you are stuck in Zurich.

Isn't Senator E in Zurich where the magical whisky bar is located? If so, why have hamburger when you can have steak?

I'll simplify things so it's clear to everyone - LX and CA F pax / high status pax can enjoy PH Rare (a seriously good drop and priced way above S$200 every day of the week) if they are eligible to access SKL F Lounge SIN - SQ F pax / high status pax get to enjoy undrinkable cheap shytey S$10 (and I think I am being kind here) bubbly cough in Senator E ZRH and CA F PVG T2.

Happy to clarify further if confusion still exists?

Perhaps it's an issue of cost? How much does SQ charge other airlines for lounge entry into the SKL F lounge? And how much do LH/CA charge for entry into their respective lounges in ZRH/China? The likes of LX/NH/LH are probably happy to pay for PH Rare. CA prolly doesn't have that issue given no F pax out of SIN. In ZRH and other LH/LX ports, SQ is unable to secure entry to the First class lounges.

For those that have departed from FRA, what's the best lounge option on the short SQ26 transit?

I hear that the AC lounge has good showers so that's where I'm thinking we should head to.

I checked out both the LH Senator lounge and the AC lounge. Both on par in my opinion, the AC lounge was newer but a little crowded when I was there. Can't compare showers as we went to the LH lounge first so showered there, shower facilities were fine in the Senator lounge so no complaints.

Thanks for that

I understand in J amenity kits are not given out, however items are available on demand. Is lip balm one of the options on offer?

I think the official line is that items are available in the WCs. Or something like that. They come around with socks and eyeshades. Ear plugs you can ask for. The rest including toothbrushes, lotions and colognes are in the WC. I have never heard of lip balm being offered or available separately.

Hi all,

I'm after some urgent advice - flying MEL-PER-SIN-CDG this Friday 28/7/17 on VA ticket and VA/SQ metal. Both VA and SQ websites have said from when the booking was made months ago that seats cannot be selected in advance. I've been told the same thing when calling both VA and SQ with their respective PNR's many times. Booking has a bassinet request for my partner and I am 6'9"/205cm so need an exit row seat, which I'm happy to pay for, but have been unable to! Seats have now been allocated and I've been told today by SQ no bassinet seat or exit row available for SIN-CDG.

Expert Flyer seems to suggest there are a couple of exit seats available or blocked.

I've explained that I cannot physically fit in a normal seat, but it has fallen on deaf ears.

I have to say the VA/SQ code share arranging is totally s***!

Any advice?

Does anyone have any experience trying to follow-up a refund of taxes from SQ? I amended a Star Alliance RTW award (booked with SQ) recently which resulted in around $1000 less taxes than I'd already paid (2 pax @ ~$500 each). I've been waiting 3 weeks for the refund and called tonight to follow-up for the second time. The CSR seemed quite vague and did not indicate she could see anything to suggest a refund had been requested or processed. No refund has hit my credit card, that much I know.

Any advice on more specific ways to resolve this?

Many thanks

G.

First off make the effort to 100% confirm whether or not the refund has or has not been refunded to your CC.

Thanks Cruiser Elite. As I said, the refund certainly has not reached my account. Further enquiry on this line (a la "Can you see that a refund has been requested internally?" and similar) yielded no helpful responses

Gday

Yep did this last month. Frustrating part was that they could only refund the taxes to the card which made the payment. In my case that was a closed card. The SQ refund hit my closed card within 5 days but then getting Amex to transfer the credit over to an active card took almost a month and 5 follow up calls.

I have also got another taxes refund on the way to the closed card. This was initiated last Sunday. Hasnt hit the card yet but i am braced for the process...

Pele.

I cancelled a SQ Suites redemption booked via Krisflyer back in May. It was only days in my case before the refund hit my Amex CC.
