SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

I am trying to book DBV to MEL in J on 31/5 flying Turkish and Singapore. The flight is showing as available on United's website but Singapore would only waitlist me for SQ247 which I believe has an angled flat bed. Any suggestions as to how to get this booked?

SQ247 on 31/5 shows up as available on Krisflyer for me.

Call Singapore up and give them the flights you want. Their engine isn’t as comprehensive as United for partner flights.

With Singapore you’ll be able to book any of the Sin-Mel flights if there is availability. United is restricted go SQ247 angled beds for J.

Sorry, the flight leaves DBV on 31/5 connects with SQ247 on 1/6. I did call them, they say it is only available to waitlist. This has happened to me a few times already that United shows availability that KF won't give me.

TPR on departure, but i’d skip the arrival. It’s totally not worth it. Better to be on your way to the exciting food and drink of singapore rather then mucking around at the airport.
I was wondering about this as I’ll be arriving in SIN at 9pm on First with a 2 day stop over.
I’ll just enjoy the TPR with my departing flight rather than trying to hit TPR with a double whammy.

Looking at FRA to SYD and there is suites availability in advantage, includes new suites from SIN to SYD.

I already have a J redemption on the same flights but want to change.

Best way?
Transfer more points across make the First booking online then cancel J? Or ring and see what they suggest?

Hey all
We are flying J from CBR-SIN next Friday - (very excited - first time better than cattle)
I am trying to access BTC - is it on this service? When I log in to manage my booking, I can choose meals like vegetarian, gluten free etc, but can't seem to get the BTC menu?
cheers!

There is no btc ex Canberra as per, Book the Cook

What about the return flight? Do you see btc there?

Just another question re business class
if you eat your BTC meal and still hungry - can you order something off the inflight menu as well? (not sure what the etiquette is )
cheers!

Sure. No problem. You still get all the rest of the 5 or 6 courses - it's virtually impossible to go hungry on an SQ flight in business or first (unless they forgot to load your vegan meal).

Your second meal will be dependent on what's left after everyone else has made their choice. Although there may also be an economy choice left.

Oh didn't reliase there was 5-6 courses? Thought it was just a plate one plate of food...sounds good though :-)

There is 3 courses + the cheese platter in J. And in-between snacks as well

yes, I notice CBR is a late evening departure so may be reduced in terms of catering (to allow for sleep).

The 'standard' lunch/dinner offering on medium haul flights for lunch and dinner is usually along the lines of:
  • satay (three or four sticks, seconds readily offered)
  • appetiser (usually some sort of fish, but can vary)
  • main course (choice of four)
  • dessert (choice of two)
  • cheese
  • fruit
  • chocolates
If you book the cook you'll get all the rest just your main course is replaced by your selection.

Hey thanks for the detailed info!
Yes- I wasn’t sure what to expect as we have never flown j. I just thought you get whatever you ordered on the btc - was not aware of those other dishes .
Cheers

Now that they are spelt out I remember eating most of those and being extremely full by dessert

I guess F will be the next level. Don't want to be too spoilt that I can't go back to J easily

So I have my first ever F flight tmrw from NRT-SIN, in the 4 seat config, followed by new suites from SIN-SYD a couple days after. Very excited about it to say the least, and I think it will be the favorite part of my whole holiday :)

Just a quick questions........Is there any point whatsoever doing online check in for either segment? I’m gonna have baggage to check in anyway so I cant really see any point....

Not really.

I usually only OLCI if wanting a better seat when flying business or economy. Or if the flight is looking full, I may want to confirm that I'm coming and to not bump me!
