SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

If I'm flying J and have 0 status, would I still be allowed a guest into the J lounge?
I would think no.

I understand that there is no guest access for SQ business class. Guesting is only allowed if you have KrisFlyer Gold status or equivalent (Gold) status with another Star Alliance airline.

thanks mate.
its what I thought.

I was *A gold for a year, but won't get that again :'(

Except at SIN where you must be PPS or better to get a guest into the SKL J lounge.

What’s the latest on mixed class redemptions? Is it still as painful as it was last year to try and get an agent who knew how to price them correctly? It took me several calls before I managed last time so I’m wondering if it’s worth the point saving to bother this time.

To answer my own question and for the benefit of others - it was completely painless this time. I don't know if they're fixed the issue or if I got lucky, but I called 02 8228 1188 and spoke to Roman who was great. I explained I wanted BKK-SIN-SYD in F but understood BKK-SIN was only available in J and he priced it at 80k x2 immediately. All done in under 10 minutes.

Love SQ!

Edit: Also, another thing that I think has been answered before, but I thought I'd try anyway given the rep was so helpful - he couldn't add a domestic connection on VA on the same booking, saying it would have to be separate and he couldn't see any J availability anyway - only Y.

good to know. I think I had to pay 2x 1 way when I did mixed redemptions last time (In Nov '17)

Is that the same for First Class on another Star Alliance airline?

Wife flying TG First and I'm flying TG Business ex-SYD. Can she guest me into SQ First Lounge in SYD? Neither of us with status.

I understand it to be that a First Class Passenger is entitled to a maximum of one guest travelling on any Star Alliance flight departing from the local airport.

Exceptions are: LH HON/First Class Lounges in FRA/MUC; LX HON/First Class Lounges in ZRH/GVA; OS HON/First Class Lounges in VIE; TG Spa Lounge in BKK (subject to change)

Royal Orchid Lounges | Airport Services | Thai Airways
Lounge Access :
Royal First Class passengers departing the same day on TG operating flight

- One guest departing same day on any Star Alliance operating flight allowed

• First Class passengers departing same day on any Star Alliance operating flight

- One guest departing same day on any Star Alliance operating flight allowed

• Royal Orchid Plus Platinum card holder departing same day on TG operating international flights

- One guest departing same day on TG operating flight allowed

The Singapore lounges at Changi have different eligibility requirements because of the fourth lounge (the *G economy lounge).

For all other SQ lounges (that I'm aware of), normal access and guesting applies. So TG F can take one guest into the SQ F lounge in SYD. As this is based on class of service, status doesn't matter.

In this case the restriction applies to accessing the lounge itself, not the guesting rights. A star F passenger can still take one guest with them, just not into the F lounge as these F lounges are not part of the Star lounge network. A TG F passenger can use Senator Lounges, and take one guest with them in FRA/MUC/ZRH/GVA for example.

An LH/LX F passenger can guest one person into the LH/LX F lounges if they want (conditions vary depending if the guest is immediate family or not)

In SIN, TPR is passengers only, no guests, but SQ/Star F pax can take a guest into the SQ F lounge.

Just doing my BTC for flight on Sunday and noticed that they have the inflight menu loaded on the BTC screen for you to decide if you want the inflight menu or BTC. Is this a new thing?

Never really noticed it on previous bookings.

Started some time last year.

Noted also on my suites class next month (although not the return as yet....must be a month prior).
Can't say the Beef Cheek simmered in Liquorice Broth is grabbing my fancy, so might stick with the Boston Lobster Thermidor BTC

Hi Everyone,
Just a couple of questions in regards to my flight.
1. I'm meeting my parents in Singapore after their SE Asia holiday, I arrive at Changi 5 hours prior to them, flying PE with Velocity Gold am I able to access one of their lounges or are they departure lounges only?

2. This is my first PE flight with SQ, any tips on seating/book the cook?

Cheers!
