SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

I have a 3.5 hr transit on my way to Paris, and a 1 hr transit on the way back. Was not aware the changeover was so tight on the return. No time for lounge even.

The SQ lounges are fine, but not a destination in themselves. You'll be thankful of the quick transit on the day (when getting home is the priority rather than sitting around wasting time in a lounge... a two hour lounge visit = 1/3 of the way back to Australia already!)

Getting home is overrated - I would rather prolong the experience! :)

A tale of 2 kitchens:

238 MEL-SIN 27/08 lunch was Beef Tenderloin - as tough as old work boots

830 SIN-PVG 28/8 lunch was Beef Tenderloin - so tender it cut like butter

Margaux red washed both down beautifully

Little strange as MEL kitchen usually very good

Home is fine, it's work that's overrated. So it doesn't matter if you get back Friday morning or Sunday night, you still have to be at work Monday morning. :(

Dreaming of my next trip.

After 100s of R/F sectors this is first time I have ever voluntarily selected 1A - 833 PVG-SIN on Sun 2nd - now what are the chances of solo occupancy of R cabin?

You just reminded me that I need to book to get home from the test cricket at Lords in London next year. One of my brothers is running on empty with his Kris Miles to get to Paris and back to Melbourne.

I may have missed this, so apologies in advance if it's already been asked.

Does anyone know why SQ are no longer offering amenity kits in J? Just came back from AMS-MEL (via SIN) and neither flight provided amenity kits - just put slippers, socks and eye cover on the seat. Cost cutting?

No amenity kits in J for the last 4 years at least in my experience. Necessarily stuff in in bathrooms.

I don't think they have been available for a while. Standard items like toothbrush/toothpaste, comb, razor etc are available in the toilets if required.

Wow, my last flight with them last year in J I could have sworn we received an amenity kit - probably just my memory failing. Thanks for that. Appreciate the prompt response. Cheers.

Thanks for that. As mentioned above, really thought I received one last year, but could just be my shi**y memory lol.

SQ haven't offered amenity kits as standard in business class for many years now. But they did have a special promotion last year for their 70th anniversary - you can see the kit here in the first picture and later on in the post (fabric care): Singapore Airlines Is Introducing In-Flight Fabric Care Amenities - One Mile at a Time
