SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

Yes, unfortunately that appears to be correct, the 772's all have the old "Spacebed" seats.

The refitted 772’s have 1x2x1. Older seats though - not the same as the 777-300ER etc.

I totally agree the 2x2x2 is not optimal for overnight flights.

Spacebed still? I thought the purple seats had long gone  (They have ones in leather with a funny drop off for the foot rest, but different from spacebed).

You are right there are no aircraft with the space bed left.

This is a great resource for SQ's fleet
A guide to the SQ seats and fleet

All 6 of SQ's 772ER have the 1-2-1 2006 J seat (same as the old A380)

All of SQ's remaining 772 (ie not ER) have the 2009 Regional J seat in 2-2-2 layout same seat as the A330s

We get both seats out of PER along with the new regionl 787.

The 2009 is the same as pre-The business A330 VA J and is perfectly fine for regional especially a day flight but not ideal for overnight. Not completely flat but good enough to get some sleep on a short flight. It is better for reclining and lounging when compared to the larger 2006 seat that needs to be converted to a bed by flipping over.

OOps, my bad: I was under the mistaken impression that the 2-2-2- seats were "spacebeds". However, the fact remains that they are significantly inferior to the 1-2-1 seats and CE is justified in feeling a bit miffed.

I can sympathise with CE as I have 2 overnights booked on the 2009 J seats for next year.

Unavoidable as I am using UA miles to fly MLE-SIN-PER and SQ have started blocking the 787 for partner redemption in the last month or so.

I am OK with it though as it is still better than the QF 737 J offered on the SIN-PER route.

There is a 77W two hours later with full flats.

The one advantage of the 247 is the availability for award seats through star alliance aprtners.

So just another mixed class (and fare) redemption booking question.

My flight plans are MEL-SIN (F) and SIN-USM (J) then USM-SIN (J) + stopover in SIN then SIN-MEL (F).

I've done mixed redemption bookings before and just got off the phone to book myself a mixed saver F/J class booking MEL-SIN-USM and return. I also need to add the missus, except the MEL-SIN only has advantage seats left and the SIN-USM has saver J seats (no advantage). So the agent reserved seats for the same flights/class as myself for the missus but placed MEL-SIN on WL. They say the only way is to wait for WL to clear or book separate tickets i.e. MEL-SIN return and SIN-USM return.

I'm pretty sure I've booked mixed class & fare redemption (MEL-SIN F Advantage and then SIN-somewhere in Saver or vice versa) bookings before but the agent says it can't be done. Are they correct or would this be a case of HUACA?

Also can I confirm fare codes:
O: Suites/First saver
A: Suites/First Advantage
I: Business saver?
D: Business Advantage?
Are these correct?

100% can make mixed class rdpt booking J/F or F/J for 2 or more sectors but 100% cannot make mixed Sav/Adv or Adv/Sav rdpt booking for 2 or more sectors.

Ah that’s a pretty stupid quirk of the SQ system in that you can’t book the SIN-USM leg because only the cheaper option is available and not the more expensive one.

Yeah quite silly. I have only looked around my flight dates and there's saver seats or Waitlist but absolutely no advantage.

Flew DEL-SIN a couple of weeks ago, in J on an older A380. Acknowledging that my previous flight was in F, I still found this one quite poor.

Incorrect menu at my seat. When I was asked for my order I showed the menu and said is this what’s available? FA apologised but instead of giving me the right menu just asked: fish, chicken or noodles? Fortunately I’d seen the menu online and knew there were vegetarian and non-veg thali options. So asked for the non-veg thali. FA apologised and confirmed it was available.

As I stayed awake on the 5 hour overnight flight I had ok service but needed to press the call button a couple of times to have items removed or fresh water provided. I was also asked to put away my tray, handset and get seat upright very early. At the same time as the pax across the aisle from me was still asleep with her bed flat. She was sick as a dog, by her own admission, and frankly should not have been flying. Maybe the crew thought just let her be. Eventually they roused her, but I was peeved at the inconsistency.

Here is the food. It was pretty tasty, albeit lacking in presentation:

Can anybody shed any light on the seriously reprehensible behavior of some degenerates who somehow weaseled there way into SKL F in SIN last night?

Apparently a couple of dodgy characters ran amuck - I am a bit short on details - trying to get pics from my SKL Manager contacts now
Im wondering what your idea of run amuck is.

Mine is full on riot involving SWAT, yours could be $6.99 Brut requested and someone bringing in a bag of Maccas :p

How many Guests of Suites PAX are normally permitted in TPR? 0? 1?

Mind you, the particular Suites PAX doing the guesting may seem a little dodgy as well ...

Totally - worst of a rabid bunch I would contend. Nope no access to TPR for guests - TPR solely the domain of R and F BP holders - SKL F access for guests only.
