SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

Further to the subject of tightening of premium cabin rdpt space I am headed to ZRH Sep 2 for a trade show. I have done this show annually for last 10 years and always secured old R Saver - this year with new R Savers are nigh on impossible so will be flying J. Luckily my #1 girl in KF was able to get 96D released for me which will enhance the sleep. (Giving RooFlyers you beaut mattress a a maiden run).

Flying solo with the o/n flt to Euro I cannot see value in stumping up the extra pts for R Adv. Yep J is big step down from R or F but only saving grace is the fun you get to have with the younger Crew Members.

Again those who don't like SQ product please move aside and free up space for those who do prefer to fly SQ?

My youngest son loves Qatar in first but there is often quite a delay getting from the desert stopover to the final destination. He uses AA miles that our family has to go that way.

I used two Suites as there were 8 out of 12 being used. Gotta love the old configuration.
So you finally agree?
Silence is deafening!

Dont waste band width on an airline irrelevant to this thread - instead tell us about your recent exp on new regional J.

BTW you are still in the bad books bucko for not telling me you were in MEL recently.

I had youngest son and partner with Mrscove and myself CE. It was Melbourne cool too. Please get Daniel Andrews to pass a new law to stop people opening their fridge doors in winter. It was brrrrrrrrr down at Marvel Stadium.
I won’t be going back to Rockpool this century as it was really poor value.
Now we are in London care of SQ Suites.
The A350 J seat is a bit unusual but it was a 5 hour daytime flight so it was ok as a seat at the movies for the 5 hour run to Singapore from Perth.

I know it is a personal thing but having now flown the B787 and A350 I really like the new regional J especially compared to the old angle flat.

I miss the size of the the 772ER (especially 11A) but they were getting very long in the tooth.

The rear mini cabin on the A350 looks ideal if you need some sleep as it was sparsely populated an next to no foot traffic as the galley and bathrooms are all ahead of the cabin.

If you are a passenger of height or size you may a very different opinion.

Yep new regional J is a tad tight for non-Asian frame size - but an excellent product overall - they are designed for short to med haul so more than acceptable.

Agreed - I’m on SQ226 right now and the seat is narrow (seems more so than 787 but maybe wrong) but entirely comfortable for 4.50hrs to Singapore.

Personally prefer the seats closer to the window so 12/14 AK etc

We talking original or bar and grill?

Bar and grill: Personally the best steaks I've ever had but would be happier to find the same at a lower price point...but never have :P.

SQ 308 delayed as they are swapping the aircraft. Can see them unloading the old plane from my seat in TPR.

I guess I will make do and compare these for the benefit of AFF.

Well done mate, nothing better than being in TPR when a delay occurs. Where did you commence your journey from?

EDIT: Scratch that, just found this, you commenced in PER aboard a SQ A350 in J.
How was that flight?

I am hoping for a 4+ hour delay to get some of that sweet EU 261 compensation while I drink some very nice bubbly.

I really like the new regional J. A big improvement over the angled seats on the A330 and B772. If you are tall or wide it may not be the same for you but I find them very comfortable for a 5 hour flight.

I miss the B772ER seat (same as the original A380 seat), in particular 11A as these were huge. Though they were getting a bit tired.

Service was fantastic as always. Over about a dozen F/J flights on SQ I am yet to have a bad experience or even just an OK one.

Is anyone else finding the website painfully slow at present?

And where can one now find the multi-city search function?
