I don’t understand why these sorts of things aren’t automated processes that can happen immediately. Why can’t the miles be back in your account immediately with any cash payment sent straight to some schedule to process? I must be missing something.

If I can lock in a J Saver award for 4 pax, CDG-xSIN-MEL, but would prefer FCO-xSIN-MEL the same day (with the exact same SIN-MEL sector) which is currently either Advantage or waitlist, should I...

1. ...waitlist FCO-SIN only, then confirm CDG-xSIN-MEL? (Plan to get agent to just sub in the sector if waitlist clears?)
2. ...waitlist full FCO-xSIN-MEL itinerary, then confirm CDG-xSIN-MEL? (Plan to get agent to fully replace itinerary if waitlist clears)?
3. ...something different, presumably on the phone?

The time came to get my ticket reissued for next April. Originally a saver to JFK, there have been no saver seats recently.

I tried to convince them to find me a saver, they would not but said that they may be able to open a WL and would call me back in 72 hours.
71 hours later they called and said no waitlist, no saver, so no choice but to book an advantage. Shortly after, they called me back again to ask me for 3 AUD for extra fees.

They will re issue the ticket within 72 hours. I have the date but it’s a very expensive flight.

Check on first day seats are released. In the 24 hours between seeing availability and KF getting back to me, availability vanished! People must be regularly booking for next year.

I note that @get me outta here indicated that F saver rewards to JFK seem to be hard to come across. I have had to cancel our book to JFK and when looking to rebook I to have noticed that F saver rewards seem to be hard to find. Is this a new thing or are the seats just not being released.

Matt, I did not see any F savers awards right up until I booked an advantage award. I have always been able to get savers in the past if booking early enough. I remember some people said they could also get savers much closer to departure. It will be interesting to see if they do come back.

I did a search over the weekend to FRA, F savers only on the 777, not a380, for next June.

I'll take the 777 if it comes to it but have a few days before my dates are actually available

I've booked to go through FRA before that so hope it comes off. America is the fly in the ointment though, who knows what will be happening there.

I am starting to look but not ready to book. I will be looking for flights in the Sep 21 school holidays so still to early to book.

Yep - next week will be duplicating identical month long Euro sojourn which we had to cancel this year - ex SYD via LHR mid June 2021- Some normality is going to eventually return

Edit: Flts SYD-SIN-LHR mid 2021 still showing 380 availability both sectors - BUT - who knows if we will ever get to ride the 380 again - that is going to be a sad SAD day if it eventuates

I'm looking late next year, Xmas 2021, so too early to book. But I am having fun trying the various combinations of flights to work out which way is the best to get to Vienna. Currently looks like an overnight at FRA.
