SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

Just had my miles extended by 6 months. Thank you SQ.

I will be interested to see if we can extend points the Gentleman used for tickets - booked in January for December 2020 flights to LAX. Highly unlikely we will be able to take the flights. I think the points were due to expire in May 2020.

Just a heads up in case anyone receives their Krisflyer statement today via email... the email stated a bunch of miles expired 30 June 2020 (yesterday). But logging in to the account they have been reset to December 2020. (phew!)

aah.. waitlisted a F saver for my return trip too, FRA to SYD in June 2021 & confirmed J saver for same date.
Feels good to have a trip locked in.

Was supposed to be on my way to Paris, 1st July was SYD departure date sniff sniff

Just booked J to LHR for June 2021 to (hopefully) introduce my family back in England to young daughter who'll be just over 1 by then.

With the current carnage with the call centre, is there any other way to request adding an infant to a redemption booking?

I'm hoping they've implemented a secret online form that I couldn't find using the website navigation.... Wishful thinking?

Hi All. Does anyone have experience how long SQ are taking to refund cash for revenue seats that I cancelled under their refund policy. Flights were due about now (now cancelled by SQ), booked in February via Webjet and Mytrip (paid via CC), cancelled in April and May as they became fully refundable at SQ. No sign of any refund as yet??

mid June I heard from T/A that some of thr customers were waiting for refunds from April, but believe they were flts booked directly with SQ. Your circs are complicated by intermediate website ?

Any recent COVID experiences on how long before the flight SQ cancel? Got 2 bookings in August. One is on SQ 222 which hasn't flown for the past 2 weeks and clearly will not be taking the flight anyway

I received notification last week that our flights PVG SIN SYD for 22/23 August had been cancelled. I had one revenue fare and one award booking. SQ are offering a flight credit with a SGD$100 bonus or a full refund - I'm taking the refund as who knows when we will be allowed out! I can request the refund online for the revenue fare but have to call SQ directly to obtain the refund for the award booking??

About 4 weeks ago I received an email notification of a PE seat purchase refund as they cancelled our original PVG SIN flight and the new flight had no PE cabin - $$ were credited to Amex cards the following day.

I cancelled my award on line. I got an email to say 'your booking is eligible for waiver/refund'. I followed the link and filled out the couple of lines required.

I did the same recently online for cancelled award August flights and recieved an automatic email acknowledgement. Still waiting for miles to be re-credited and fees to be refunded but no hurry as not going anywhere, especially not from Victoria.

The cancellation notification email for the revenue fare (booked in my partner’s name) had the link for options - refund etc which I completed online. Oddly, I didn’t receive a notification email for the award ticket cancellation and in ‘manage my booking’ there was the message that to contact SQ by phone. When I did ring, there was a recorded message with instructions to go to the website and look for the COVID 19 link - this opened up the same options as for the revenue fare and I was able to complete the cancellation/refund request.

In the past SQ have been pretty timely with the $$ refund but I’ve waited 6-8 weeks for the points to be recredited so I won’t be expecting to see those before October.

just got an email saying my 8th aug HND to SIN to MELB flight has been cancelled,

out of curiosity is this due to lack of demand or no passengers allowed into aus or something to do with singapore customs?

So just to add to the data on here. I had a flight BNE-SIN-FRA booked for 19/06/20, saver reward in J. Received cancellation notification in late April and submitted the refund request using the online form and received instant acknowledgement. Received email yesterday, 12/07/20, that my request has been actioned. All points back in my KF account but 6-8 wait for taxes to be refunded to credit card. Now waiting on the return leg to also be refunded.

Most torturous to cancel was R SYD-SIN-FRA-JFK Sep 21 - enough to drive you to drink huh?
I know that feeling we also had the same booking for Sep 20 that has been cancelled and will be looking to re book the same flights in Sep 21. At present my KF miles are the highest they have been in years and a reasonable amount will start to expire in from Jan 21.

6 more bookings cancelled this morn - are you allowed to swear on AFF?

How are you going getting the refunds? Hopefully more successfully than me and others. It is a disgrace!

We have SYD/ZRH and LHR/SYD booked in revenue R for Dec/early Jan A380 both ways, but thats an ever more increasingly doubtful chance that one! At least SQ allowed us to book that with a payment date of mid Nov, because they know their scheds and operating aircraft choice are very much subj to change..

Thats the sad bit - SQ probly wont take you on that lovely double decker A380 you thought they wud use - the longer this awful pandemic continues the less chance of those aircraft returning.

It is just odd how each airline is different and the inconsistent approach. When I had to cancel with SQ, the miles and taxes were refunded within a few days. When I cancelled QF flights the points took about 4 weeks and the taxes took around 11 weeks to be returned.

The refund process is what the refund process is - I have cancelled a dozen bookings before today's cancellations - all pts and $s have been returned - some quicker than others - I am happy enough to roll with SQ in these uncharted times.

What’s even more odd is the inconsistency within the same airline. I cancelled 4 bookings with SQ all at the same time in the first couple of days of June:

1: SIN-HKG departing late Dec - was able to cancel online. Miles back immediately, cash back a couple of days later

2: LAX-SIN for MIL departing late Jan - miles and cash back 2 weeks later.

3&4: LAX-SIN-BNE for the rest of the NoNames departing the same flight as MIL - nothing returned yet despite multiple calls expressing increasing levels of irritation.

STOP PRESS: The latest rev-up appears to have worked (??). Miles for 3xJ LAX-SIN-BNE have shown up in my KF account. Now for the cash.....

I can agree with this and I’m willing to give some understanding under the circumstances but when they charge my credit card the cancellation/miles reinstatement fee at the time of cancellation and then take an eternity to refund me then you are really stretching the friendship. Why not reconcile it all at the time it actually gets processed? Gross refund minus fee = Net refund.

They’re lucky they have such a fantastic product.:D
