SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

Apologies for asking this in case it has been asked before, but does an infant (<2yrs) flying with an adult on a redemption ticket require a redemption nominee slot on a award flight? I know infants are 10% of the full ticket on award flights, but do they need a redemption nominee slot?
No they don't, I recently booked an award flight for myself and partner SYD to MAN in J and didn't have to add our baby as a redemption nominee. I think because the 10% fare has to be cash so it's not considered an award ticket it's a cash fare even though it's on the same booking.

You will have to call SQ to sort out the booking though so be prepared for long wait times. Took me 2 calls with a 2.5 hour wait each time, and another hour on the phone for the 2nd, to get it sorted.

I took the plunge and called SQ to request Mrs&MissM be waitlisted to fly out of MEL rather than BNE (confirmed J). Based on recent experience after calling, been informed it would take greater than 60 minutes to get through I put the phone to one side and settled in for a long wait and continued working. Much to my surprise the music stopped and a voice started talking around the 9 minute mark and I nearly fell of my chair reaching for the phone. The whole call lasted around 13 minutes they have either improved the service or I was just very lucky :)

Go buy yourself a lottery ticket @Matt_01 - getting a 9 minute wait time is unheard of for the SQ call centre these days.
It's your lucky day!

@MathNerd maybe I will buy a lottery ticket and be a millionaire by the end of the week but doubt that will happen. I only posted as this booking started as a one way made on line, had to call to add the return sector. We changed plans and had to call again as it was a routing change, fees taxes could not be done on this call and took a couple more calls to sort that out. Third change came into the mix so more calls required again changes in fees and taxes and now needed a few more points and a few more calls. Up until today most of the wait times were 1-2 hours and was expecting the same today. When I heard the agents voice I honestly almost fell off my chair grabbing for the phone as I did not want the agent to hang up on me. Hopefully the only call I will need to make to SQ in the next 8 months is to confirm the waitlist acceptance (if it clears) :)

For those playing along at home, I called the SQ Call Centre (13 10 11) last night at around 8pm or so. Whole call done within 25 minutes (with around 10 minutes on hold). Unfortunately the agent wasn't a redemption agent rather she was commercially trained. Expecting a call back "within 24 - 48 hours". Let's see how that goes.
But the short wait was welcome nonetheless!

‘Best’ appears to be Sofitel but that’s close to T5 and you want T2, so take free train shuttle btweens Termls, for wch you’ll need either Oyster card to get thru the gates, or any contactless card - it’s just to activate the gate entry..

Looking at booking F flights to SIN next January. However, when selecting 2 seats, it’s waitlist only for Saver, but when selecting 1, Saver then becomes available.

Question for the gurus here: is it not possible to get 2 F seats in 1 booking? And will it be possible to book 2 if booking them separately?

Likely there is only one seat being made available in the Saver Award fare bucket.

If the first is true, then booking the one seat would deplete that. The issue is will SQ make another Saver award seat available on the flight?

Search for two, if they come up then you should be able to book: there's quite a bit of sin:Aus availability I can see ATM.

Thanks, that’s what I thought.

I did search for two, however it’s coming up only as Advantage or waitlist. Only really looking to redeem Saver tickets.

If T-20 positioning into LHR for morning dep on SQ - best Airport hotel to o/n pls?

If it's available, the Renaissance runway view rooms are a bit of fun to try. They're located on the side of the runway and you get spectacular views of takeoffs and landings, literally a few metres away from your window. The planes are close, and they're big.

(Soundproofing is excellent, can't hear a thing inside.)

wow, changed some award flights online (same destination), just a date change from Mar/April to August now
Took 5min and painless online.
no $ involved either for change of date
no extra miles either (outward journey was originally saver and still is, return journey was advantage and it still is)

Good to know. Will probably doing the same thing soon.

Long time lurker etc, sorry my first post is a bit of a whinge.
Went through SQ's online chat to do an award flight change which involved additional taxes/fees/charges. All good except that the only way for them to take payment is by phone, and the contact centre people can't seem to get through to my Australian mobile. (I got a friend in Singapore to call me just in case there were incoming call issues, and it worked just fine.) I've tried calling 13 10 11 several times, most recently yesterday when I was on hold for 2 hours 38 mins 42 secs before getting diverted straight to the feedback questions (oh the irony!).
Has anyone experienced anything similar with SQ being unable to call you?
Thanks all :)
