SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

Hi guys, very excited, managed to snag MEL-SIN; SIN-AMS (Velocity redemptions); then FRA-MEL (SQ redemption) next year in June/July for 4 pax in J.

Question re: the FRA-MEL SQ Business Saver redemption. Frankfurt isn't my preferred return point, if four seats happen to open up from Rome, Milan, Paris or Zurich is it fairly easy to change these with Singapore Airlines?

Thanks in advance

I believe that once itinerary has been ticketed you can only make time/date changes for the same route. For any other changes the ticket will have to be canceled and rebooked.

pretty sure you will be bound to date/flt changes only on the route you hv booked. Wudnt complain tho, 4 return J redemption tix is good going.

Thanks, is it possible to cancel and re-book for a fee?

Would be happy to do that if possible - depending on fee size. But either way, got the dates we wanted so not complaining

Award cancellation cost $75 USD when booked directly with KF. Not sure about the fees when using VA points.

May not be the best thread but let’s try first up. Has anyone got any experience connecting SQ-LH in FRA at all?

Looking at SQ326 connecting LH to MUC. Will be same day connection on different tickets. Both NOT EU passports.

Will SQ be able to print both sets of boarding passes? Check bags all the way through to MUC? Any recommendations for comfortable transit time currently?

Realise I could take SQ328 straight to MUC but no award availability hence the connection.

You can change routing on SQ rewards you will need to call to get this done and it is time consuming as the agents will double check everything and at time you may need to remind them that you already have the SIN-MEL sectors. If there are additional taxes these will be collected and if a tax refund is due they will process this and it comes back within a couple of days. I had to change Mrs&MissM's booking due to changes in our plans. Their original booking was MEL-LHR FRA-ADL this was then changed to MEL-JFK (SQ26) SEA-ADL then changed to BNE-SEA EWR-ADL and after a waitlist cleared the final flights are MEL-SEA EWR-ADL. When making these changes I was not charged any fees and I am not sure if SQ has reintroduced the change fees. IIRC from precovid changes I made change/ redeposit fees are payable per person so I adds up pretty quick.

How about looking at it differently. I'm CHOOSING to fly out of Frankfurt next July, having done Rome, Paris, Amsterdam to death over the years. Change of heart prompted by my daughter who had an amazing time in the region a month ago.
I had no idea we would be less than 30 minutes drive from the Rhein.
No hassles or anxiety with rebooking !!!

I think this would have been under the special complimentary rebooking policy. The special offer was repeatedly extended but has finally ended as of Sunday night (31/07). If the tickets were issued up to 31/07, you get a one-off additional complimentary change up to 2hrs before departure. However, if the tickets were issued from Monday onwards you'll be paying the normal change fees for any changes (and also pretty sure there is less flexibility around e.g., extending ticket validity etc). Details here: https://www.singaporeair.com/en_UK/...9-information-centre/complimentary-rebooking/

As @Matt_01 says the fees (if you have to pay them) are indeed per person, not per booking. So yeah, it adds up.

Further to my upthread comment re availability on SQ F in May, turned out not to be an issue.

Now booked F on: SQ+LH SYD-xSIN-FRA (SIN-FRA on B747-800 :) ) and LX+SQ on ZRH-xSIN-SYD. SQ codeshares for the LH and LX sectors. Mix of Suites on A380 and F on B777 for SQ. Trying it all! Downside is no TPR on the SIN-FRA LH flight, although codeshared with SQ.

Hat tip to @Cruiser Elite for various bits of advice

I wanted to, but it didn't work (see routing above) but am spending a 10 days in the area & Alsace.

Similarly I booked MEL-FRA but onward connection to DBV didn't pop up for a few days then had choice of OU or LH.

I followed the wise words of Steve Winwood "If you see a chance, you take it", I grabbed MEL-FRA when I could.

I spoke to SQ but they can't/won't link the tickets but suggested I speak to check-in clerks at MEL.

I`ll see how I go in 5 weeks' time.

Rooey you are flying SQ SYD-SIN? If yes you will have arrival access into TPR - or am I reading your post incorrectly?

Thanks Cruiser - actually 'stop-overing' SIN (26 hrs), but as you mentioned, I'll go in with arrival access and see if I can wheedle TPR 'arrival access' for the outbound LX codeshare the next day.

I know its been mentioned a million times here and there, but what's the best pub to stay at the airport (landside)?

I had not realised this, my main driver to change rather than cancel and rebook was due to a significant number of points were past their original expiry date. Although these were getting extended there were reports that when some cancelled their flight the original expiry date came into play and then had to deal with SQ to get them reinstated. Our flight were ticked prior to 31/7 however I am not planning any more changes.

Crowne Plaza adjacent to T3 - nice pool, pretty nice rooms (tho it’s been a while) and some of them look nearly directly onto airport taxiway, if you pack your anorak and want to play spot the jet..

Flying J out of SYD on SQ232 at 1100 tomorrow.

We will arrive early around 0600 as our ride needs to drop us off before work.

Will we be able to check in if we arrive while they are checking in SQ212?

I chose ZRH-SIN to come home in F as it's an 1145am departure so awake for "serious sucking up" (to quote Julia Roberts in "Pretty Woman") rather than a evening flight where I'd want to sleep 😃.
Plus as a longstanding tram/train tragic, we're able to divert from BER-ZRH at Basel and head to Mulhouse - great train museum and original home of Melbourne's bumblebee trams (yeah, pathetic, I know).
