SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

So today’s SQ236 BNE-SIN was 2.5 hours late. We actually flew out on the plane that was to operate the second flight of the day. The original one had been diverted to OOL and only touched down in BNE just before we pushed back.

Question re: the FRA-MEL SQ Business Saver redemption. Frankfurt isn't my preferred return point, if four seats happen to open up from Rome, Milan, Paris or Zurich

Four seats in J opening up in the European peak travel months of June/July would be pretty unlikely.

And as others have said you would have to cancel existing flight and pay the cancelation fee, and just book the flight as a new booking.

I know its been mentioned a million times here and there, but what's the best pub to stay at the airport (landside)?
As it's a 26hr stopover, you might want to go further afield than the airport CP. Eg, Village Hotel Changi is very nice and plenty of food and walks in that area.

Fantastic service at the SKL lounge today. I needed to change 1 segment of a spontaneous escapes award booking and couldn’t do it online. The woman at the service desk couldn’t have been more helpful. Obviously was not all easy as the fellow she was talking to first put her through to a higher authority and the conversation changed to Malay. But got what I wanted.

Thanks, normally I would, but I reckon this time I'll just want to veg out. The CP was what I was thinking of.

Rooey I have not stayed in CP main rooms for years - their beds were like morgue slabs - but bathrooms good. Their EL is was an absolute 'Barry Crocker' in terms of F & B offerings - don't know if improved - cove might have better idea - didn't Dr Ronny just stay there?

They had newer smaller rooms which I thought were better - don't know if that helps - I prolly should butt out as it's quite a few years since I stayed there and TBH with yout time frame I would def be heading into town.

Thanks, as ever, CE. Hard beds is a deal breaker for me. @drron & @mrs.dr.ron , following your TR, but how were the beds?

What’s the protocol with requesting a chaser on a waitlist flight these days. Is it still a thing? I spoke with an agent this morning and he politely told me to get stuffed and not possible.

I’ve got 4 waitlist J saver flights DXB-MEL from 15-19 Aug. The 15th and 16th flights have canceled because of 14 day rule despite there being at least 16 open seats across both legs. 17th will cancel soon too if nothing is approved.

Hi all,

I am trying to change a first class award to Paris (connecting from Sydney) in October. There is seats available online on a few flights, but when I call to make the change I have been informed I need to make a seperate booking and then pay double the points. Every time I get transferred to a supervisor to fix my ticket the call disconnects. Is there another contact centre anyone has had better experiencing calling as all agents I have phoned thru to can’t seem to make the change. Thanks for the help!

Have 2 x F bookings from SYD to SIN to LHR next May.
Just received an email saying we have been bumped back to Business for SYD to SIN
There is Advanage F on the flight 3 hours earlier. Any possibility of changing these flights?
Waiting on a callback, but not hopeful
Also I can’t see my SIN to LHR legs on the KrisFlyer site….

Not a possibility, they MUST move you to the earlier flight if there are two available seats in F on the same day and route.

Read my previous post about downgrades. Don’t wait for callback, SQ are absolutely hopeless in managing downgrades. You need to call them and insist to be moved.

We currently have a long 17 hour layover at Changi. Spent the night in the SK lounge. The lounge gets very busy particularly between 2100 and midnight. Afterwards it thins out quickly and is almost deserted overnight until early morning.

The chaise lounges in the nap room are fine for a short nap or to get away from the crowd. We didn't find them suitable for an overnight sleep. Even at the busy times there were always a few empty ones. Turn left at reception and walk to the very end of the lounge. You will find them hidden behind to sliding doors on the left side.

Staff happy to provide blankets and pillows and the sofas in the main lounge are much better for an overnight sleep.

Yes I was most glad that I booked my wife and I into the YOTEL, rather than rely on the nap room in the lounge on our transit in June.

No Champagne in the SIN J lounge by the looks of things. Choice of one red and one white. I assume this is post COVID cost cutting.

It is much more pleasant than the old J lounge with natural light and doesn't feel as packed. Food looks more enticing as well.

We also had no pre-departure beverages on the weekend from PER-SIN which was disappointing
.

About to board a 737-8 aka Max to HKT so if you never hear from me again at least I died upfront on SQ.

You must ask for pre departure champagne. I am at 100% when I ask.

Sponsor what time of day were you there? Even in old J Lounge in morn many times Champs not out you had to ask for it. Was the bar manned or too early?

As Ronny said on all flts now you need request pre dep bevos in J - that has been posted multiple times in several threads for last 3 to 4 mths that I know of - sorry if you missed the posts.
