SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

Hard for the nanny state to let ppl make their own choices.
We probably need to take a good hard look at ourselves if Singapore is ahead of us on this...

Interestingly, I've found SQ crew quite flexible with this onboard. On my LHR-SIN a couple of weeks ago my mask must have fallen off while asleep. I found it nicely hung on the coat hook, nary a word from the crew.

Can't see a start date

Sounds like it is immediate. In the original article it stated:

If you’re flying with Singapore Airlines in the coming weeks on most aircraft types in Business Class, or as a PPS Club status holder in any cabin, you’ll enjoy unlimited free Wi-Fi as part of a trial being conducted by the airline.
......
Singapore Airlines told us that the trial has no fixed end date at the moment, so hopefully we’ll see it running well into September at least.

However it is only a trial, and so may not last.

Meh. I've always liked the inflight entertainment options which will now just be gradually replaced with streaming via your own device. I'll have to get an iPad.

In the very rare situation that I'd need to do work in the air, I'd just make sure I had everything I need beforehand.

I like the chance to 'disconnect' and see flying as an opportunity for that.

I also prefer good IFE over wifi as I don’t work in the air but there’s no reason not to offer both. EK for example offers free wifi to premium pax, just need to sign up to Skywards and they also have the best IFE in the air. On the other hand SQ IFE is not great and doesn’t update often so good unlimited wifi could be a welcome addition, particularly for pax who fly SQ on regular basis.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I can do to make an award changeable online? I assume there is nothing but as I'm finding it impossible to speak to anyone who can change an award booking I'm a bit desperate.

I have two award bookings that I made recently...for one change flights is enabled...for the other, it looks like below. Both are paid and ticketed.

When I call (tried AU and SG numbers) I select the award booking options in the menu but I always get sent to a 'commercial agent' who can't help. No option to wait in a queue for an 'awards agent'.

Re Masks inflight
Hi everyone
Leave in 4 weeks J MEL-FCO transit from SIN
I cant find details that masks no longer to be worn in flight as discussed in upstream posts.
Just checked website under Covid Q’s and still says you do.
Anywhere else I should look?
Frankly so desparate to travel would suit up in HAZMAT suit if directed…

Are you calling (02) 7209 4388? What about calling very early in the morning and not selecting the award option. Otherwise sorry that’s all I can think of.

Maybe just wait and see how it goes when you get there. If you don’t mind wearing masks but you turn up without one they will give you one if it’s necessary. If not necessary no problem.

@MARTINE the SQ rule change is being reported across a number of threads, here (AFF), FT, ET, OM at a T etc. I would assume that the SQ site has not been updated

I've called the AU and SG numbers...both hopeless. I thought the SG one was going to be different and I specifically asked at the beginning of the call if they could help with an award booking. After taking the booking reference, asking security questions, asking for details of the change...then they say they can't help. There's simply no option to wait in the queue to speak to one of the mysterious people who can touch an award booking.

I have had this sort of situation a couple of times this year. Finally resolved when I used the online feedback form and headed it Complaint documenting the number of times I had called.

I used the online form to submit a request to unlink the VA number from an old KrisFlyer profile. Took them a week to come back to ask security questions, then another week to fix the problem.

For those that have been through the SKL lounge recently does the lounge have universal power sockets or am I best packing a standard SIN power adapter.

Thanks @Cruiser Elite and @serfty, I am not on the same flights as them but somehow I am still responsible to pack their gadget bag, 3 years of not flying and nothing has changed. I am pretty sure it will be my fault when their liquids and gels and powders are confiscated ;) and I will hear about this when they arrive.
