SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

Has anyone got any recent feedback re lounges in Milan. We have a J reward flight that leaves around 2pm. SQ377. I can see there is the Sala Montale where they charge 20 bucks for a shower and overall the lounge was pretty ordinary when we were last there
Just been through MXP the other day and spent a little time at the Sala Monteverdi. Can't give you any information about showers but it did seem a little crowded and the food offerings were not great. The beer though was cold and plentiful Would be looking for the Sala Pergolesi which I visited a few years ago now but found to be a little nicer.

OK so it is easy enough to check SQ F & B offerings for each flight up to 8 days pre-flight - do EK offer similar facility does anybody know?

Sorry - should have Googled first -yes they do 👍

I notice Astralis has been replaced by RunRig on DXB-MEL - SQ still offering The Bogan on MEL-SIN - FFS - more feedback off to SQ tomorrow

Looking at a trip to the EU somewhere August, nice to see sub $6000 J fares easily bookable on the A380 and the preferred flights too :)

R/F down to about $10,800 return as well
What dates and route you can see R/F at 10.8K pls ltt?

I cannot see sub 14K anywhere in booking window

SQ have a sale in all fare classes that has been going for a couple of weeks.

It finishes on Friday, but most of the dicounted fares have been snapped up.

I spent a fruitless two hours today trying to reconstruct a return to CDG. Viable discounted options for me were there for me 10 days ago but are no longer available.

OK if 10K R/F flts were there they were few and far between - I did not spot one

But more to the point anybody snare one and what route / dates please?

I have been looking fairly frequently at FRA flights mid March next year with my ongoing inability to get an F award when the switch to the A350 occurred. There were some a couple of weeks ago but have all disappeared. And on 18th March the date I am flying the only F available through SQ is the LH codeshare. And that prices in well above 10k.

I hadn't noticed this until today on my account statement email, and I haven't seen a mention previously in this thread: Krisflyer Spree has been discontinued as of 1 September 2022:

https://www.krisflyerspree.com/ redirects to an FAQ page now - I guess it's KrisShop or Qantas mall from here on...

I wonder if there'll be a similar consolidations with other airlines' shopping mall options?

Managed to snag four J reward seats to and from coughet for next year. Phew.
Nice work, love their availability!
We've got return J to Europe next year, all savers, happily departing IST as that's all our points could stretch to!

Side note J IST - MEL is 99k points for saver, but 167k for advantage? Why?!

I think it's because they are trying their luck with Kris+

Our points balance is zeroed out now too 🙈

I moved a lot of Velocity points over to book in F for LAX - NRT - SIN -SYD next year. Got the balance now down to 225. Stopping NRT for a few days.

I was looking at late August into Early September MEL-FRA-MEL and it was the 77W and A380 and not mixed classes.

All are gone now it seems :( and back to "normal pricing"

Oh wow I totally missed this, I'd normally clock up about 20K miles annually

When & how did you ask about shifting to the earlier flight?
I did try via phone, unsuccessfully, twice in the months prior. But this change was done at SYD check-in by the SIA customer service agent. Very greatful and in no way did they need to do it

Have been a SIA Krisflyer member forever used to commute weekly BNE - SIN, 2 & sometimes 3 times a month over a 6 year period & was always Gold &/or Platinum

Here's a good one:
Flying SIA BNE-SIN-MUC-MUC-SIN-BNE in May next year.
15/9 SIA inform SIN-BNE leg I've been bumped from Premium Economy extra room 47,000 miles to Economy - no miles refund?
SIA indicated that the plane config had changed.
Checked - sure had changed all premium economy was now business!
16/9 I check Business availability & suggested to SIA that they take another 22500 miles from my account & upgrade to Business
21/9 Obfuscation email from SIA with no answer just a couple of silly questions, & we'll get back with you.
21/9 I repeated same as I had 16/9 ~ initiated a Business class booking [didn't complete] & they had plenty of BC seats ~ no response.
28/9 Called SIA got through quite quickly & for some reason after about 40 minutes lady said she'd call me back in 15 minutes.
After about 40 minutes nothing so I called back, got someone else & after 54 minutes, got the same I'll call you back, before the end of business.
We'll see. Not @ all like the SIA I knew in the early 2000's.

Looks like SQ downgraded DEL from A380 to 777.
Had two R awards booked for xmas / new year. Now I will have to slum it in normal F ;)
Oh that's interesting - I'm guessing BOM still has the A380 then?
I'd imagine there'd be enough demand to DEL for the A380 to still be viable there (I usually fly to/from BLR which doesn't have the facilities/runways for an A380 so have had to make do with the A350), so I'm surprised they're pulling it in favour of the 777.

On the plus side - does this signal a return of the A380 to MEL? A man can dream, can't he?
