Glad to hear no troubles on this flight.

Cruiserette did happen to mention that she would prefer to spend 3 days in a dentists chair than do that again next year! Personally I quite enjoyed it - 4 First Class Lounge visits / 1 flt SQ F / 2.1 flts SQ R / 2 nts in 2 diff 5 star hotels / then a sector on Southwest LAX-LAS just to remind how 'normal people' travel - what was that I hear you say cove - 'Why travel direct when you can connect?' - I'm with you Mr The Kid!

Jeez I am still paying for it - Cruiserette now claims Captain Cook didn't take that long to sail from England to Australia 250yrs ago - is that true?

I know what you mean. I did an award booking for family via Tokyo to the USA. Business and first mix. Report back? We don't want to fly economy or premium economy, but we'd rather have a non-stop flight [in economy] for 15 hours than spend 30 hours flying, sitting in lounges, and flying via asia.

I totally suspect their view will change if I was to ever comply with their wishes and send them economy on the non-stop, but they like to complain about it :)

Excellent idea, it could really take off( no pun intended) .Then there would be more reward seats for the rest of us

hi folks,

looking for some opinions on the following:

flying from Maldives back to Sydney.

it's 25k points/ person additional to do a mixed redemption J/F (no F on MLE-SIN).

is 25k points worth a TPR visit and an F flight home? and does your opinion change if it's a day or night flight?

i've only ever flown back on the A380 2040 departure and whilst it's nice, i'm usually so wrecked there's 6 hours of sleep involved where the J seat would be perfectly suited.

It really depends if you have the points to spare? if they're not critical for your next trip, F is worth the difference... chalk and cheese compared to business class. The points aren't worth it for the TPR, but would be worth it to move from the business class lounge to the first lounge (TPR is just somewhere quiet to sit).

a night flight i would take First class. For a daytime flight, if you know won't sleep business is good!

I'd be inclinded to do it. I booked Suites SYD - TOK in June as the price difference wasn't that much, and who doesn't want to experience TPR and the better service in F. But then for two people 50K is like a one way to asia in J, so there's that to consider.

As others have said, depends how much points you will have leftover, if you will need those spare points in the near future, and mainly how fast can you earn those 50k pts.

Also will it be the a380 or 777 from SIN-SYD? Personally if it was a380 I would do it, but not for the 777, but also depends if it's a day or night flight. So many things to consider personally.

Maybe plan your next trip and see if you have enough points for that? ;) If you do, may as well go all out.

Off topic, how is Maldives? What sort of J seats is it from SIN-MLE?
I was thinking of going there vs Santorini or even Bora Bora for a resort/beach holiday/honeymoon.

That's correct. The MMB tells you that the waitlisted segment remains ... waitlisted (with no confirmed ticket).

I had a look at my booking at both the FRA-SIN and SIN-SYD are set as "waitlisted". I thought the second SIN-SYD would be confirmed, despite there being availability at the time, and now me searching again for that segment by itself being available as a saver award.

I do have a OW backup booking so if I don't get it I'm not too fussed, but should I book the SIN-SYD by itself so I have that confirmed now? Or can I ring and ask them to confirm the second segment?
