SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

For me: I redeemed 3.31mil KF miles this year lol
That is an impressive number mine was nowhere near that many I earnt 13325 and redeemed 13000. For me the 13000 was an AMEX transfer to make up the difference between a changed flight from EU-AU to US-AU and the remaining 325 was from flights with CA. I had much higher redemption number in 2021 for flights that were taken this year.

Just booked 3xJ, MEL-LHR for mid-December 2023. I was checking ex BNE,MEL,SYD,PER,DRW into all of the SQ Europe directs and almost everything is waitlist from about the 7th December onwards. I note availability on QR through Velocity looks quite good for 2pax.

Hi, need some opinions/advice please. We have a waitlisted biz and confirmed economy award on SIA for 1 and confirmed biz for 1 same time/day Bangkok to Perth, end of May. Virgin have an available award biz same times, same day. Do we wait hoping for SIA to release the waitlisted biz or just forget it and book Virgin? Or ask an experienced SIA agent? The other issue is asking for SIA to restore expired points that came from a cancelled award flight during the year. Partner had health issues. I've read that you need an "experienced agent". The ones I talk to just giggle and say there is nothing they can do about it. Very polite, just frustrating. Is there a thread that I've missed that will assist? Thanks in advance

My first cancelled, expired points required intervention by an agent to restore (some months back). For my recent cancellation, the expired points were restored automatically.
On the booking, a call to agent can't hurt. I think, from my own searching that SQ has tightened a fair bit so I would be booking the VFF and waitlisting on SIA if there's a $ or points differential. IF you get the waitlist, you can always cop the penalty on the VFF booking.

Thank you, I will give them another try in the New Year.

Anyone else read the recent krisflyer 2022 year in review email and found some interesting facts?

Well, I did not even open the email initially as I wrongly thought it was going to be more about SQ than myself.

What’s the best way to book a KrisFlyer SYD-CPH with stopover on SIN (either on way there or back)

I do not know what the best way is, but when I redeemed a *A in F from CPH to MEL it was Lufhthansa CPH to FRA (in J) and the SQ after that.
While the first leg did not get many extra F benefits, we were met by a personal escort on landing who guided us to the lounge in FRA.
