SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

I find myself agreeing with both 'sides' of the choccies debate. But I'm ok with the way of panned out in this case. Not awkward, I was assured they were shared amongst all crew and appreciated and like I said, in First I don't think you would be suspected of angling for anything extra 😊.

I agree with this. I did not want to post in a way that rained on anyone's parade, but we do not live in a tipping culture and I do not find tipping cultures attractive. I try to give back to the crew by being courteous, authentic and smiling.

Indeed - I am polite and if a crew member goes out of their way to make an effort/chat/extra teddy for the kids, extra juice/snacks/cheese/crackers etc for the kids I'll thank them directly and via the Lady in Red

No admission to TPR on SQ codeshares, according to SilverKris F lounge attendants at T2 and T3 (contrary to access given some way up thread).

SilverKris F lounge at T2 pretty ordinary - reminded me of many J lounges at larger Third world airports. Same base food as T3 though.

Down here somewhere.

F Lounge at T3 better but still disappointing. Wider food selection. Bar not attended at 6:30pm ( but came quickly). Wine self serve machine bottles mostly empty. Across the bar no Reisling - only chardy and Sav Blanc whites. I grimaced so she went off and found a Pikes Reisling. Not sure what's going on there - maybe from the adjacent TPR?

It's still really quiet at 8 pm. More staff than guests.

It reminds me of QR's OneWorld Platinum lounge at DOH. A bit of a half-hearted effort to accommodate F flyers of other Airlines.

Rooey you are saying Lounge Staff informed you no arrival access to TPR as you were on a codeshare? Marketed by whom pls? I never knew that. Obviously arr access is an unpublished benefit so you cannot reference that anywhere but clearly no distinction is SQ TPR Access T's & C's for pax on code share - if you are in SQ R or F you are eligible for TPR entry pre dep - SQ LOUNGE ACCESS

So next Q is you are flying SQ home from EU are you not? Same prob then for you?

If you think SQ's F lounges are mediocre for F pax on other Star Alliance carriers wait until you see the cough offered by the likes of CA, LH or LAX for S* F pax - indeed SQ's SKL F in T3 is light years ahead of the others - I must admit I have not been to F in T2 since refurb

Absolutely 👍

Fortunately for RF he’s not going to experience the dismal LH Senator lounges as F pax and will have access to the greatest lounge of all - the FCT 😍

Hi all, question about SQ releasing seats (row 11 etc) prior to departure.

My partner and I are flying on 2nd May from SYD > SIN (SQ232) then SIN > LHR (SQ322).
Looking to get a bulkhead row if possible.

Am I right in thinking SQ232 will open up (if available) 96 hours before departure, but SQ322 won't open till 48 hours prior as it's going SIN > LHR?

Actually it is a published benefit:

"4 Suites and First Class customers arriving in Singapore on Singapore Airlines flights may use either The Private Room or the First Class SilverKris Lounge in Singapore Changi Airport."

Sorry, I was just double checking that with my LX operated onward flight, SQ codeshare, that I wouldn't have departure access. SQ operated only.

So next Q is you are flying SQ home from EU are you not? Same prob then for you?

Coming back I'm on LH operated, SQ codeshare, so I wouldn't have arrival access then, but I'm overnighting at the CP again, this time only 16 hrs transit, so theoretically I would have access courtesy of my onward flight but I'll go straight to the hotel.

As Boomy said, departing FRA with LH metal, it's FCT. Puty I don't smoke cigars or drink whiskey.

PS currently on LX First to ZRH - nice, but hard product not a patch on suites 😊

Keen to read your thoughts about LX F, particularly compared to LH F once you fly them in few weeks.

Probably not fair to compare any of them to the flash SQ suites as they are much dated products but there is an old world charm to these European carriers that you may or may not like :)

Yes - LH and maybe LX getting new cabins next year. At the moment ( still in air) LX soft product > SQ. Crew a little more relaxed and engaging and meals certainly 5*. Captain came round for a chat twice 😊.

But wi-fi. A voucher for 50 MB only!!!

I think QSuites J maybe comparable to LX F suite hard product.

Does CP do a day rate 0800-1700?
Don't know, sorry. I'll ask next time but you may be there before end of May?
