SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

Thoughts on 14 D & F on the 777; too close to the galley? Bulkhead seats not available (at least not to me). Overnight flight

Similarly on the 350 ex BNE, 18 D/F too close to toilet? Only pairs available are rows 17, 18, 20, 21. Although we could take window seats one behind the other 14/15A or K, 15/16K, etc. Afternoon/evening flight so not so important as the 777.

We prefer the window seats one behind the other on the 350 to and from BNE.

We only select the daytime flights both ways

I know of one couple who won't book 14 if 13 is missing because from their POV it is still row 13 just mislabelled.

They haven’t considered that the J cabin doesn’t start at row 1? Would make the mislabeled row 13 a little further back in the cabin.

I haven’t seen the GOLD TPR INVITATIONS post Covid but they still exist:

In conversation with staff at SIN F Checkin today they reiterated that ALL stations are supplied with this stock - so when checking in if staff tell you in MEL / SYD / FRA / LHR or wherever that they have no stock that is just BS and staff at that station are just too lazy to do what they are supposed to do.

No biggie to me if not supplied but I do know several 1 time SQ R / F pax who treasure these invitations as one of their favourite souvenirs

Always get them without asking in LHR but not in MEL/SYD or FRA. The latter makes sense as there is no SQ lounge there.

Frequent Flyer Concierge takes the hard work out of finding award availability and redeeming your frequent flyer or credit card points for flights.

Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, the Frequent Flyer Concierge team at Frequent Flyer Concierge will help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Not about no lounge there - if you are transitting SIN you are supposed to be given one - if terminating in SIN you won’t be given one

Not expecting LH staff in Senator to hand out SQ lounge invitations and there is no interaction with SQ staff until getting onboard. Maybe they can hand them out at the gate but that would be too much to ask from contractors.

207 SIN-MEL this morn there is 1 spare seat only on the entire 777 - and that is my shadow 1D - J / S / Y every seat occupied - I am feeling a bit like how boomy feels when he goes to AFF functions and nobody wants to sit next to him 👍 😎

Mate they are supposed to be handed to you with your boarding passes at checkin period - nothing to do with lounges

I think only in SIN at F terminal. In LHR for example it’s given in the lounge. At other ports they can’t even print proper BPs with the logo and you expect TPR invite. Get real mate.

Timed the same as the about to start additional MEL service. An early start, but will allow a daytime connection to LHR and CDG - arriving in time to go to bed local time. As well as plentiful connections across Asia.

It demonstrates that the demand is with SQ and not QF (if and when they actually operate the bundle of rights on the route). I wonder why that is ?

Judging by ticket cost and lack of award seats I’d say there is plenty of demand. QF don’t have enough planes so they have to play with what they’ve got. SQ is stepping in to fill the gap.

Gotta also remember even though it is often claimed "hubs are dead" (which they most certainly are not) , SQ (by itself and with its LCC subsidiary, Scoot) serves all sort of city pairs that QF could never hope to serve from Sydney.
