If staying at the Crowne Plaza (not arriving by car), do you have to walk outside the terminal to find the First Class checkin area?

It's perfectly ok! No need to put yourself through an extra check-in just for the sake of it. It's... ummm... a check-in :shock:

The whole idea of a separate check-in is to save you time. It seems counter intuitive to go out of your way (and spend more time) to experience it.

Depends how easily entertained you are. It does it for me!

I wouldn't try it with 2.5hrs but you really need to experience it at some point in time if you can - yes it's a check-in - but it's a very special check-in.

But this is our first premium cabin experience, one that has been a product of 5 years of persistent credit card bonuses/usage and making sure we earn the most points. Still super excited about it (despite the no F check-in in SIN )

LH First class terminal - yeah - I do go out of my way for that But it's a whole class beyond anything that TG or SQ offer.

Many moons ago Swiss Air had a special enclosure at Zurich for check-in... champagne on offer while they completed formalities. Not of much use by yourself, but if someone took you out to the airport you could bring them in with you for a glass. Nice way to say good-bye.

I am looking at SQ242 SYD-SIN (refurb 777-300) arriving at 0020 and then SQ336 SIN-CDG (A380) leaving at 0010, so I have to endure a 23h50m layover.

I can have 1A on each flight. Is there a better seat on either craft?

Just a quick question re: J bulkhead seats on 77WN - from what I can see in pictures, they provide the whole width of the bench for your feet - but is the actually pitch (lengthways leg room) the same as non bulkhead seats? Any other negatives apart from the IFE screen being a bit further away and being close to galley? I've picked 11D + 11F .

I always select either 3C and if that taken I call up and secure 2C - I have had one of these seats 100 times and unless totally full cabin almost never does another pax select the other Suite in either of those combos so that one you get a double bed all to yourself.

Of course if you want a window seat then that screws that idea. If I cannot get centre Suites I would never select 1A or 1F but each to their own - more activity back of cabin so I would go for row 3 or 4 - but either way no bad Suites in R.



Toilet to rear A row bigger than toilet behind Row F - but both plenty room.

JT trying to secure 77WN ride ex MEL or SYD is not an exact science - they do swap and change the 777s a bit. 227/228 did have 77WN for quite a while - then I flew 227 mid Feb and it was 773 - bit of a lottery really especially if you are planning months out.

Any of the Sydneysiders care to chime in with which flts 77WN has been operating to/fro SYD?

I would avoid row 1 on the 777 and opt for row 2. There is more sense of space and you're not staring at the bulkhead for the whole flight. Plus there's less disturbance from passing traffic to the WC, from the galley or cabin crew. On a 777 you really want to avoid 1D (and F) - too much potential disturbance.

For the A380 - for a solo seat row 3 is the best. Three whole windows to yourself. Others only have two windows. Row 1 people can look in on if they use the stairs, and there is stowage by row 2 which is accessed by the crew from time to time.

Both the 77W flights in and out of SYD (212/222) recently have been the 77WN (mostly).

We picked up our Suites boarding passes in Perth so we go to Singapore to get on board the A380.

As they're now 4F planes it will be much harder to secure Saver award space.

Currently, both the 77W/WN and the WR operate out of SYD. So yes, if you try for the WR (222), then yes it'll be difficult to get the F award space. The other one (212) unfortunately seems to flick between the WN and the 77W so you aren't guaranteed to get the new F/J there.

I have pushed the button and booked SQ242 (2F) SYD to SIN followed by 336 (3F) to CDG. A nice long layover in SIN to prepare for the next leg.
