SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

And now the saver disease has even gone down to all Y saver flights. I am really hoping that this is a January bug that rights itself in 2 days when February flights become available to book

If I were a betting person (I’m not) then I’d be betting this is not a mistake, but rather an attempt to gauge whether people will pay Advantage rates when Saver is not available. They seem to have concluded that they will for F so Saver awards in F from Australia have all but vanished. Then they try with J and Y from a secondary destination to see whether it would work from SYD and MEL.

I really hope you are wrong!!

This Brisbane bug is still not fixed. Every saver seat to Brisbane is being released as wait-list in January next year. Everywhere else in Australia is fine. @Cruiser Elite is you still have contacts in SQ can you please sort this for us :)
Would be a pleasure to help but alas my contacts within KF call centre were reposted during covid and I have been unable to cultivate a new contact.

As recent as 2 weeks ago i spent over an hour on phone to KF call centre in MNL trying to get a rather complicated J to R / F 1 sector upgrade SYD-SIN completed - sticking point was original F booking came from rdpt inventory and i needed to get call centre to contact seat controller to release a comm seat into rdpt inventory to complete it.

My contacts previously could routinely do this but new KF staff could not so after an hour they finally hooked me up to a Manager who arrangerd it in 5 mins. He was reluctant to give me his extension number as SQ have really clamped KF agents ability to progress anything not directly from script. I have the Managers name will keep working on it - who knows it might just come to fruition.

I dont think saver F seats will re-appear, I had to book an Advantage F rate for a trip in July but really wanted to fly the A380 with the wife

Hi Brains Trust,
It's been a while since I've travelled to Singapore and have a trip later in the year. I can't quite remember the arrivals layout and procedures in Singapore.

Me, Mrs kevrosmith & Mstr kevrosmith are flying SYD-SIN in F Suites, and Nanny kevrosmith (my mum) is flying in 2 hours earlier BNE-SIN in J. What options are available for Mum while she waits for our flight to arrive?
  • Can she remain airside, knowing her bag will probably go around the carousel and get diverted to unclaimed luggage?
  • Would she have arrivals access to the Business lounge?
  • Is she best to go through to collect luggage and go through immigration and wait landside? If so, is there a pleasant waiting area people could suggest?
  • Do flights from BNE and SYD usually arrive at the same terminal?
Any other suggestions on how best to coordinate our arrival and make it so that Mum doesn't have to sit in an uncomfortable place while she waits for us to land?

I managed to snag an F Saver a little while ago from Mumbai to SIN on an A380 but I imagine they don’t sell a lot of F on this flight which is only 5 hours departing late night.

I think it’s route specific. They started by pulling the save awards on suites flights to and from Australia. Then the other F flights. Now it looks like J and then Y through BNE. Presumably if people pay the advantage rates they will remove the savers from other Australian routes.

Will this also impact on availability through Velocity?

I don't believe Nanny would have arrivals access (although you traveling Suites would).

Going though Immigration? Jewel can be nice.

Stay airside and meet you at your gate? Plenty to do/see airside at Changi.

Other than that make sure you fill out the online documentation - best day before travel.

So the moral of the story, AFF members please do not book advantage awards regarding Brisbane. We have to train them to do what we need.

Likely, I haven't check Velocity availability but its likely to be impacted
