SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

You saved me!!! I got 11 K and forgot about the seat being restricted. Lady in KF lounge was able to change it for me to 11D, but she did try and talk me out of it
Well actually, 11D was not the seat as it was on the MH not LH A350-900. Thankfully no one was sitting in 11K so swapped during flight. I swear on the MH it is wider by the shoulders in A and K.

On another note, the 9.55 SIN to BNE flight can be really annoying service wise. They often don't start meal service until 2 hours into a 7 hour flight. Maybe trying to reduce the amount of people eating the second refreshment meal. But it does mean if you didn't eat in the lounge, you do get hungry.

@Cruiser Elite tried to have friendly chat to staff, but they were not having their best day. Very robotic and not a lot of smiles. Got a female bear though so happy with that. And you had to request amenity kit too as not already on seat (consistent with post above on service standards)

Never ceases to amaze - the following are most meritorious seats in J on 380 in order:
1. 96D / 96F
2. 11D / 11F
3. 91D / 91F

Unoccupied on this sector PVG-SIN are 11F, 91D, 91F and 96F - 4 of the 6 best seats in J 🤷‍♂️
Agreed.

Back in the old days of Jan 2020, flew ZRH-SIN on one of these glorious SQ big birds in 96D/F as a couple - the privacy, space and tranquillity was something else.
Definitely the seat(s) to try and snag if given the opportunity.

Well I did post information re SYD F checkin above after actual experience

Yes, but actual experience is not always in line with policy. The eligibility rules weren't in writing anywhere except the ET article posted earlier in the thread, which stated only PPS members on a specific departure (without F cabin) could use the area.

I posted to confirm your experience was in line with SQ policy - and that the ET article was incorrect - to definitively clear things up.

I believe that the 2018 Piper Heidsieck Champagne served in J is getting replaced with Charles Heidsieck from 1 April according to the SQ inflight menu website.

Also can anyone tell me if they have had the Dewars Double Double 20 Years Blended Scotch Whisky on their flight? Is this common on all flights or just a 'subject to availability'?

I forgot to get the dinner menu. I was there on the weekend just gone.

The lamb and fish with shellfish sauce (can't remember what fish, it's on the dinner menu) was delicious. Beef hor fun was also good. Don't get the grilled sandwich. It is not a sandwich lol.

Did you happen to get the wine list for TPR?

SQ connections with QF/VA - wondering if theres more change in the air, or whether its just SQ being 'agnostic' ..

Had to change dates on Hba Mel Sin return, in which QF were the only offered morning flight to Mel, even tho VA left 10/15 mins later. This is for Oct so hardly pressing stuff, but initially odd that VA flt wasnt an option.. Keep in mind I had paid for the J Itin a week earlier until meeting dates changed.

When i rebooked i was tempted by smallish price diff and paid up for F on the Mel Sin leg (just love dungeons..). So was offered both J and F on the outward leg.

But there wasnt the same choice on return. There was J from Sin to Mel and then a VA flt at a convenient 2.30h interval down to Hba. Nothing offered for F. Bggr, I accepted J, paid the overall diff from original fare and then I started to check a bit.

Yes - there are F seats avail on return leg Sin Mel

No - you cant upgrade with points or $$ when you try via 'manage my booking'

So that lead to an unsatisfactory SQ live chat - not PPS but that might be next - and what I find is that SQ, when you book an F fare, are now selective with whom you fly on domestic connx.

Two quotes from my live chat :

- Singapore - MEL - HBA combinable cabin class is
SQ First Class (F) and Qantas Business Class (D). (suggesting thats the Only fare category)

- I understand however as of now changing your return flight with a combination of F Class and VA is not available.

Sounds like VA are going cheap/QF are becoming more the Dom connx of choice, or does anyone think this is just fare bundle/bucket/ bureaucracy ?

Mite also report in what gives me the Irrits...

Did you happen to get the wine list for TPR?

No, sorry. I rarely drink wine. The french red on board (chateau something 2005) was nice though. Champagne was Krug and something else but no Cristal.

They also let me sleep through from about 23:30 until 5am in the TPR nap room even though the lounge closes between 2:30 and 6:00 but i wouldn't assume that's gonna happen as there is a two hour limit and if someone else wants it they'll kick you out. This are four rooms though from memory.
