There are much nicer airlines, not controlled by ethnic Chinese.

What's wrong with the Chinese? If you have a problem with ethnic Chinese you should just fly another airline, I'm sure this will be better for everyone.

I always fly Singapore Air in Y and haven't had any issues, always great service and comfortable enough. One thing I noticed about SG Y is that they spread out the economy passangers quite well when the plane isnt full so I have had several flights where the seat next to me was empty so plenty of space and extra comfort.

Now you've just picked the only thing I hate about SG in Y! I do think they should offer an alternative. I'm trying a Hindu meal on my next trip in the hope of something other than ice-cream.

I am half certain that I remember flying SQ Y and getting a mini tub of Häagen-Dazs that was excellent. However for the last few times I've flown (PEK-SIN-MEL usually) I've only gotten a vanilla Drumstick style ice cream, which is nice but still a step down from Häagen-Dazs.

I think the routes within Asia and especially out of SIN you get a mini tub of Häagen-Dazs but flights to and from Australia it's usually a Drumstick / Magnum! Sometimes the ice cream is really really hard though it's like super frozen!

Agree with the other posters on SQ Y - I have always enjoyed and both hard and soft product is typically excellent. Comfy seats, big IFE screens, good food. Flew QF to BKK in October last year featuring the small IFE screens on the A330 - just felt a step behind SQ. Also on the flights from SYD to SIN there is typically two meals - whereas on QF it is one full meal and then a snack service only.
