Credit Card Offers St.George Amplify Signature: 150,000 bonus Amplify Points (expires 30/4/25)

I think all 3 names are now just Westpac business names so just take your pick. We went St George purely because they have one branch in Perth city whereas the other two are not in WA.
All three should have the same backend evaluation process. I found (all 3 of) them some of the harshest banks when it comes to extending credit: I have quite a decent income, no dependent, not-a-huge mortgage, not much liabilities, and pristine credit history. I got knocked back by them a couple of times, before approving my last application about a year later (with no changes in my circumstances).

St George has sent me email saying my card has been approved, and I ended up having the same Customer Access Number as I had in the past. They will send my card via mail. So no need to go to a branch for me.

Also I logged into St George and Bank SA platform using the same CAN and passwords, and could access my accounts. So on internet banking it is the same platform, but the only difference is the logo and colour background.

Hi everyone,

I am looking at this Dragon signiture visa card with 200k sign up bonus points. I plan to use it to pay Canberra payments (around 30k).
When I was reading the TC I noticed the following which is a bit of concerning. I am unsure if I'll get points if I pay Canberra payments with this card. If not can I use Yak Pay to pay Canberra and get points?

Can someone with this card shed some lights on Canberra payments and BPAY payments for bonus points eligibility?

thanks in advance guys and gals!!

Hi everyone,

^Amplify Signature Bonus Points Offer: To be eligible to receive up to 200,000 bonus Amplify points over 2 years, you must apply and be approved for a new Amplify Signature Credit Card between 3rd June 2020 and 30th September 2020. You'll receive 130,000 bonus Amplify points when you spend a minimum amount of $12,000 on eligible purchases on the credit card within the first 12 months from card approval. You'll receive an additional 70,000 bonus Amplify points in the second year of your credit account being open, if you spend a minimum of $12,000 on eligible purchases within the subsequent year. If you do not meet the minimum spend in one year, you forfeit the bonus points for that year only, however you are still eligible for bonus points in subsequent years if you meet the minimum spend in subsequent years during the promotional period. Eligible purchases do not include BPAY or BPAY equivalent transactions, fees, cash, cash equivalent transactions, refunds, balance transfers debited from the card account, government fees and ATO payments. Existing customers who currently hold an Amplify, Amplify Platinum or Amplify Signature card issued by Bank of Melbourne, St.George and BankSA, or who have held one in the last 12 months, are not eligible for this offer. The bonus points will be credited to your points balance within 12 weeks after the eligible spend criteria is met.
For obvious reasons, such things are rarely discussed openly. Have a look at this thread and you should glean your answer:

Hi Arctan,

Hope all is well and that the current climate isn't treating you too badly.

We have plenty of clients paying the ATO ("Canberra") daily using their Amex, VISA or Mastercard's. Due to us pushing out our clients payments in the form of an EFT there shouldn't be an issue with you receiving the bonus point offer as depicted on the St George website. As a tid bit, the St George Amplify Signature is currently the most utilised card on YP.

Have a great rest of your day. Let me know if you have any other questions regarding this, also don't hesitate to send me a dm for further clarification.

James :)

I applied for this card today and at the end of the application was conditionally approved. ID was done on line (drivers licence, passport and medicare card). I was asked to upload income proof and am waiting for an answer.
My only concern might be the minimum income required but there was no mention in the preamble stuff so fingers crossed. I really want those bonus points for the next trip - whenever that may be.

The 200k bonus points offer has been extended until 28 September however this time round, it’s no half annual fee in the 1st year, making it $558 if you want the full serve of points.

At some point you have to start wondering if the cost of the card outweighs the benefit of the number of bonus points on offer. Bear in mind Amplify points transfer to airline partners at the ratio of 2/1.
I have applied for the St George card in the past (unsuccessfully) but at $558 it wont be happening again for 100,000 KF points.
I'm happy to pay $450 for my Amex Ultimate card knowing I can redeem that as a travel credit.

I cancelled my Amplify signature card in December 2020 because I could no longer achieve sufficient value to justify the excessive annual fee.

NO!! - I was planning on applying for this card but decided to wait past 2nd March to see if they will bring out a better deal.
Didn't expect for it to go worse

Just wondering if anyone who applied for the 3 October 2019 to 12 February 2020 offer (as per my screenshot of terms, but may have been extended after I applied) has received their bonus points for the subsequent year yet?

The offer was 130,000 Amplify points in the first year and 70,000 in the second (in each case after $12,000 spend). I've well and truly met the spend and it has been more than 12 weeks since, but I haven't received the second bonus.

Just wondering if I should give it until my next statement before escalating - my first lot of bonus points were credited on a statement date (not sure if a coincidence?) but much sooner than the 12 week timeframe.

Bank error in your favour!

I just received a cheque in the mail telling me that St George made a mistake on some of the fees that had been applied to my credit card account. They've refunded me $315.86.

I'm not complaining, but:
1) The amount paid seems like a lot more than I've ever paid St George in fees
2) I have no idea which account(s) this is for.
3) It's taken them quite a while to work out that a problem existed. The last St George account I had was closed 26/2/2020.

Anyone else get a similar refund letter?

You've obviously landed on Community Chest. Good god, do not roll a 5 and land on Super Tax or worse a 6 and land on Mayfair (if somebody else owns it).

On the upsides "Go" would be around the corner meaning another 12 or 18 month exclusion has passed for further opportunities.

The are two certainties in life.

1 Death

2. There is no way possible that Dr Ralph was overcharged for a banking/credit card product without knowing about it and actively seeking compensation.

Not sure if this is the right thread, but I recently got this card after 2yrs (churning last one) and realized they're notorious for categorizing everything as "Bills and Payments" thus making them ineligible for points and bonus. Believe it's the same for BoM and Westpac. For e.g:

1. tickets to a local museum
2. a gift card purchase online

I agree St George (Westpac) appear to be assuming everything that might be remotely relevant is a business expense and therefore excluded from earning points and if you ring to challenge them they say its determined by the classification of the charge and there is nothing they can do and suggest to write for a review. Great service - they publicise 0.5 or 0.75 of eligible spend but they seem to categorise anything that could be vaguely related to a business (non-personal) as being ineligible and if they are personal expenses the procedure is "prove it or lose it". They receive their transaction charges from the merchant and then your points allocation is a lottery.

Offer only ended 24 Feb & now only slightly extended till 2 March… only concern is that that application has to be fully approved by this date, this giving only 3 business days to review.

Not sure if I should take the chance of applying & risking a credit mark considering the caveat of approval required, noting 2 IP incomes & inconvenient Perth City visit required!

Does StGeorge accept CC account closure letters?

Hesitant considering prior 2020 experience.

Received my Amplify signature card in the post on Friday. I immediately made a 12k PayPal purchase on the card and logged in today to see that it had been classified as “bills and payments”.

However when i clicked through to view my points they have paid me the 18000 points for the transaction plus paid the 100,000 first year sign up bonus. Pretty happy with this card, 2 business days since activating the card and already have the bonus points paid😀.

Has everyone found that the bonus points apply instantly after hitting the spend criteria? I’ve got about 20k points in the account now however the bonus is yet to appear.
