Same one for me - I have had no stays in the last two years - I actually had to reactivate my account last month to transfer some points through it. (about 450 points had expired)

Some of this week's Starpicks:
More supposedly found here - but it didn't come up with anything...

Redeem Starpoints for Airline Tickets

Now you can use your Starpoints® to fly on hundreds of airlines, with no blackout dates. With SPG Flights, you avoid the standard restrictions that limit most frequent-flyer awards because you can redeem Starpoints for airline tickets whenever you choose, even during peak periods such as holidays.

Starwood Preferred Guest® is the first and only hotel loyalty program that allows members to redeem award points for air travel.

It's an exclusive promo for FTers but they don't check who signs up for it.

It's also a ridiculously generous offer! I have a fair few nights coming up in Sept/Oct. 500pts per night + Plat bonus + whatever the Q4 promo is + 1000pt bonus for US stays (linked above) = :D :D :D.

Redeem Starpoints for Airline Tickets

Hmmm.
30000 points L class BNE-SYD-BNE on Qantas (inc taxes etc)
175000 points V class BNE-LAX-SYD-BNE on AA(QF codeshare) (inc taxes etc)
175000 points N class BNE-SYD-LAX-SYD-BNE on QF (inc taxes etc).
Also an Air Pacific Option available for BNE-LAX.

195000 points Q/M class BNE-SYD-LHR-MEL-BNE (QF) (inc taxes etc).
978683 points J class BNE-HKG-LHR-SYD-BNE (QF)
All these searches were within a month from now.

Interesting use of SPG points - but not sure how much value there is.

It's nice to see they've published their points table:

Interestingly, tickets booked via SPG Flights are booked as 'revenue' tickets from the airline's perspective and not award redemptions. Which surely means one could accrue FF miles/status from such tickets?

Looks that way, they are just purchasing tickets on the market. As a result they would be paying commercial rates for the tickets, hence the value per point that is seen.

When I click on the link it only mentions 250 points for doing the survey.

Is this a good time to join Starwood? Do they usually have any promotions where they offer points without staying at one of their properties? I assume Starwood points can be transferred between accounts free of charge? I need some Starwood points to transfer to an airline program and was trying to work out the cheapest way to do it.

Starwood's fine; a good place to bucket transfer points/mile.

Plus their point plus $$ can be very good value at high end properties. (Shame that they lack properties in SWP.)

I have flushed over 60,000 SPG points through them this year (20K ending up as 50K HHonours)

Thank Q for the heads up oz_mark

Now here's my situation - I have 2 nights booked at the Westin KL then followed by 2 nights at the Traders Hotel KL. I really wanted to check out the Traders Hotel due to their view of the towers but guess I may cxl this to do a hotel swap to Hotel Imperial KL and Le Meridien KL to achieve 3 stays on Oct 1,2,3 ---- then 2 free nights at say the St Regis Singapore early 2009.
