Is your status automatically updated for future bookings once you attain a new level? I have about a half a dozen bookings coming up that I made earlier in the year when I was gold. I'm now platinum.

Not much information on the web, but I found something from 2015, to say you need to contact all the hotels separately before your stay... That sounds painful.. was hoping they might have updated their systems since then...

Any recent experience from the group?

from my understanding is the hotel does a room allocation a few weeks/ days in advanced and the status appears then BUT I'm fairly new to Accor brand and how they treat elites

I would highly recommend emailing for your upcoming stays. I've had instances where my higher status tier wasn't recognised. Accor property emails are quite easy to find on the property information pages (unlike some other chains which seems to suppress it wherever possible)

Your membership number changes slightly when you change ALL status tiers so you should include your new number in the email.

I second @sudoer's comment. From my recent experience going straight from Silver to Platinum (via the accelerated status offer earlier in the year), it is much smoother if you email and let them know that you have achieved a higher level of status than when you booked.

I suppose my question for you is what are you looking for? Is it something like late checkouts or free breakfast? In either case, showing your membership card will be more than enough to ensure you get those perks. However, as others pointed if you are looking for things like welcome gifts or upgrades (the latter which by the way is not only more likely to occur as a Platinum but also be bigger in size having been double upgraded a couple of times already) then your best bet is to contact the property either via email or over the phone. One thing to consider too is that Platinum is not awarded instantly after your 60th night (or after earning so many status points). Generally, a stay at an Accor hotel takes a couple of days to post to your account. So it could be the case that you crossed the 60 night threshold in stays but that isn't reflected in your account and when you check-in for your next stay, you'll still be treated as a Gold.

The other thing I should point out, is that not all properties are trained on how to handle Platinum guests. In some of my reports, I had to indicate during check-in that I was a Platinum to get a welcome gift or drink vouchers. And this is as someone who has held Platinum for close to 2 years now. Generally, it's a good sign if the check in agent recognizes your loyalty during check in (i.e. "Thank you for staying with us KangarooFlyer88. I see that you're an Accor+Platinum member and would like to thank you for your loyalty").
