Hi guys

I am looking for some "affordable" SCs, preferably by Feb 2013.

220 SCs I am after.

Ex-SYD, preferably JASA

Day trips preferably, with no overnight stay anywhere (SYD ..... SYD)

I am all ears to your advice.

Pretty confusing with the endless combinations on the screen

My search so far suggests SYD - ADL - SYD for 40K in points and 240 SCs in Jan 2013.

I just know that it is probably not the smartest combination - given the weight of the AFF wisdom.

Your suggestions, please

Also, what time between now & Feb/Mar 2013 is the period with the highest yield (less points, more SCs) ?

If given a choice between travel duration & net point loss, I am willing to cough up points to have a shorter duration (with same SCs of course).

Regards

Thank you

This is what I saw on the screen punching your suggestions

Townsville to Sydney (and return) is operated by Jetstar. You can earn Frequent Flyer points and Status credits on JetstarEconomy Starter Plus, Economy Starter Max and Business Max fares only.

I prefer QF flights in J - to ease the pain of the runs I guess.

The example I quoted SYD-ADL-SYD was for JASA.

One less stop as well

Thanks again

sydney/melbourne/perth/melbourne/sydney available Wed Jan 9 business at reasonable rate at first glance 240 SC

Syd-Bne-Tsv return JASA can be done on QF - need to use the Anytime award and use the slide bar.

Sorry

I was seriously mistaken.

JASA for my example (SYD-ADL-SYD) would cost 69K (early Feb, 2013) for 120 SCs only

Not the ridiculously low 40K I mentioned (nor the 240 SCs) !

Must be the Sydney heat today (35-C)

Only trouble is there is no ADL in the booking so only 200 SC's

Makes the SYD-BNE-TSV much better value though still short

Agreed

My screen is telling me the SYD MEL ASP MEL SYD J run only yields 200 SCs

SYD - MEL - ASP (100 SCs).jpgSYD - ADL - SYD (120 SCs).jpg

The SYD ADL SYD run, however, yields 120 SCs for an extra 9K QFF points.

Is that worth it?

Is there another run that could yield better returns ?

Cheers

That's correct - just the 200 if ADL isn't included which is the same as a TSV run but TSV gets you back to SYD a few hours earlier

Go north and you will find your answer for 58000 points + $300

Looks very very impressive

The only problem is every time I tried the JASA page (for a different date), it says "we are unable to process your requests".

I then tried to see if I could book one flight at a time - say SYD BNE TSV to be followed by others.

This approach yielded choices but the points required is already close to the total as suggested by markis10's route (44K points for SYD BNE TSV !)

I am certain I have not done it right.

As admitted earlier, I had not done a SC run before so I am freshly minted here.

Could you kindly help me (and perhaps other SC run virgins) with point-form instructions on how to get that route up on the JASA page?

Sorry for my dim mind

Regards

PS: I would honour the AFF's guidance on Flight Search Assistance with the complimentary gratuity. Please PM me if you kindly wish to do so.

But that would mean he would have to do 22 flights or 11 return trips to make up the 220SC he's looking for... And at a monetary cost of at least $1650!
Sprucegoose means that this can be done for 20 s/c plus 200s/c from a TSV or ASP run

The multicity engine does not like you having too many flights in the one day (its somewhat anti Frequent Flyer ironically) and will only allow two legs, the trick is to put subsequent legs the day after, and when it gets to the flight selection, change it back to same day, which is how I got the booking above. Also keep in mind with JASAs etc your chances are better on work days when there are more flight options.

the things you learn. The things you learn

Thanks for that :)

Ok, I have spent sometime playing with that and have come close to understanding. I cannot reproduce it exactly and accept that conditions and availability may have changed and I have learnt a lot in doing so. Thanks again Markis10
